Area soccer teams open
seasons next weekend
The 2016 soccer season kicks off next week for all four local Alvin
ISD high school teams.
Both Alvin High School Varsity squads will compete at the Azle
Tournanment, Jan. 7-9, while the Manvel High School Varsity Boys
travel to Temple for a tournament as well and the Lady Mavericks
host Fort Bend Travis, Friday night at an undetermined time.
The Lady Jackets picked up their first playoff victory for the pro-
gram since 2000 last spring with a 2-0 bi-district triumph over Bay-
town Sterling and then gave Clements everything it could handle
in the area round before coming up on the short end of a tough 4-1
defeat. The Lady Jackets finished the season at an impressive as the
second seed from 22-6A with an impressive 15-5-3 mark.
