Savior and are ambassadors of
Christ sent to proclaim John
3:16, the Gospel, the good news
to all. We are witnesses who can
testify of Jesus’s love and saving
grace to all who will believe and
receive. Everyone has a choice
and free will. If God sent this
young man to that island (and I
believe He did) then it is not up
to us to judge his actions.
Matters of the heart are between
God and His creation.
In a way, this young man’s
mission reminds me of when the
disciple Stephen was stoned to
death in Acts chapters 6-8.
After he delivered the news of
Christ our Savior ... “Then they
cried out with a loud voice,
stopped their ears, and ran at
him with one accord; and they
cast him out of the city and
stoned him” ... “And they stoned
Stephen as he was calling on
God and saying, “Lord Jesus,
receive my spirit. Then he knelt
down and cried out with a loud
voice, “Lord, do not charge
them with this sin.” And when
he had said this, he fell asleep.”
And the word says that Jesus
is seated at the right hand of
God ... but in Acts 7:55-56
Stephen sees a vision of the
heavens opening and Jesus
“standing at the right hand of
God.” Jesus was standing in
honor of the first person to be
martyred in His name.
Only God and the people on
that island know what happened
at the last moments of Chau’s
life. Perhaps God gave him the
Brenda Groves
Washington Post stated, “He lost
his mind.”
Several other major news
sources also chastised him for
intruding on this group of
people, ridiculing him for
“imposing” his beliefs on them.
So, was he out of his mind?
Most people would be in
agreement with this statement
since Chau went to a hostile
environment knowing that he
would be killed. In fact, he
wrote a letter to his parents
before he left stating this very
truth.
But Chau was only following
in the footsteps of Jesus who
was met with the same reception
here on this earth.
Jesus also came willingly into
a hostile environment knowing
that He would be put to death,
and by His own creation.
But that was the plan of
salvation.
The Sacrifice for us all.
And Jesus’s own family
thought that He had “lost his
mind.”

It’s Christmas time. And
“mass” means celebration, the
celebration of Christ, the
anointed one. Yes, a celebration
of reconciliation between God
and men through the man Christ
Jesus.
The world has received a
precious Gift that we didn’t
deserve. But some people don’t
think they need God’s grace.
Some people don’t even know
this world has fallen into
condemnation. Most people are
searching in their hearts for
help, for hope.
Mankind is searching for
peace. And some may not be
aware of this in their minds, but
their hearts are searching for
God.
You know, the recent death of
26-year-old missionary John
Allen Chau has raised a lot of
negative comments from many
people, Christians and non-
Christians.
I don’t know all the details,
but apparently Chau went to a
remote North Sentinel Island to
tell the inhabitants about Jesus.
These people have had very
little contact outside of their
“world.” And it was known that
they were hostile toward
outsiders, but Chau wanted to
share the good news of God’s
love for them. This was not an
impulsive decision; he spent
years preparing for this
encounter. And he was killed.
Since then many people have
viciously attacked his efforts; in
fact, the headline of the
volunteer opportunities in
service to the church, their
communities, families and
young people. With more than
1.8 million members in over
13,000 councils around the
world, the Knights of Columbus
donated more than $170 million
and 70.5 million hours of service
to charitable causes in 2017.

dialect to speak their language.
And as he was dying Chau cried
out with a loud voice, “Jesus
loves you.”
I do not believe Chau’s death
was in vain. If just one person
on that island responds to God’s
message of love sent through
this man, then it was well worth
it.
For how far will a good
Shepherd go to reclaim one lost
sheep? ... The Bible tells us
how far, to hell and back.
"How then shall they call on
Him in whom they have not
believed? And how shall they
believe in Him of whom they
have not heard? And how shall
they hear without a preacher?"
“And how shall they preach
unless they are sent? As it is
written: “How beautiful are the
feet of those who preach the
gospel of peace, Who bring glad
tidings of good things!” Romans
10:15
“And this gospel of the
kingdom will be preached in all
the world as a witness to all the
nations, and then the end will
come.” Matthew 24:14
Merry Christmas, readers, and
God bless you in this coming
year with a growing knowledge
of His rich love, grace and
mercy.
