A Brazoria man is behind
bars facing murder charges
after allegedly stabbing his
girlfriend’s daughter to death
last week.
The Brazoria County
Sheriff’s Office was called to
the 5000 block of Buck Road
outside Brazoria on Monday
after a 9-1-1 caller reported a
stabbing.
Congressman Pete Olson
announced last week that he
would not be seeking a seventh
term in the U.S. House of
Representati ves.
Olson, who represents Alvin,
Manvel, Pearland, Sugar Land
and more in Congress, said he
wanted to spend more time with
his family.
“It has been a privilege and an
When deputies arrived,
they found a 24-year-old
woman dead at a home. The
woman was later identified as
Heather Dawn Myers and had
been stabbed. Myers’ body
was transported to the
Galveston County Medical
Examiner’s Office for an
autopsy.
During their investigation,
deputies determined Myers
had been in an altercation
with 25-year-old Brandon
Allen Black. Deputies
determined Black was in a
relationship with Myers’
mother. At the time of the
stabbing, a verbal altercation
was going on between Black,
Myers and Myers’ mother.
Investigators believe Black
became violent and stabbed
Myers during the verbal
altercation.
Deputies were able to locate
Black on County Road 244 a
short distance from the scene
of the stabbing.
Black was transported to
the Brazoria County Jail
where he was later charged
with murder. As of Wednesday,
no bond has been set on the
charge.
The investigation into the
killing is ongoing.
The Alvin-Manvel Area
Chamber of Commerce gave the
public the opportunity to hear
and have a sit-down with judges
Justin Gilbert of the 412th
District Court and Greg Hill of
County Court at Law #1 on July
23.
Gilbert and Hill gave the
audience an overview of their
backgrounds and the challenges
of leaving private practice and
being the newest judges in the
county.

in-house counsel for Dow
Chemical for years, was the only
