Derrick Being Erected
Iowa Colony Doubtful
Derrick Going Up For Hastings
Extension; Chas. Alexander’s
Outpost Test Coring Today.
George Meter and G. C. Koch made location for their
Alvin Heights wildcat test in Tract 10 uf the M. V.
O’Donnell survey, abstract 168. David B. MacDaniei has
the contract for drilling the well.
Derrick was being erected yesterday and it is expect-
ed that the wildcat, which is located approximately qne
and one-eighth miles southwest of production in the Has-
tings field, the HumbU’s M. Lerew No. 1 being in the
northeast corner of the adjoining survey, will soon spud.
On the east is the Magnolia 300 acre Lerew leas**,
the Humble having the other half of the section. It is ap-
proximately 4*2 miles northwest of Alvin. ,
This well will be watched closely by the oil fraternity
and if a producer w ill practically prove up the entire
section 38, and enliven operations in the field.
The Iowa Colony w ildcat test, Humble’s No. 1 Tuttle
was below 6250 feet in shale yesterday, with no shows
having been reported by the company Excitement was
high Wednesday when it was reported that an oil sand
had been struck, but later reports were to the effect that
salt water was in the hole Should the well be a failure
it will probably condemn the area between and the
Normandie Oil Co’s <U.v hole 2 miles to the northw est.
