Funeral was Aug. 28
at Crosier-Pearson
Funeral Home. Burial
was at Union Hill
Cemetery.
Six Boy Scouts from
Joshua’s Troop 221 and
a Scout from Alvarado’s
Troop 147 returned on
Aug. 6th from a 12 day,
66 mile hike of rugged
terrain.
We had 48 pound
packs with all the
supplies we needed to
live for the 12 days out.
While at Philmont we
climbed and repelled off
a 30 ft. cliff, hiked up a
10,000 ft. high mountain
(Mount Baldy). We also
learned about miners of
the 1900s and the
lifestyle of blacksmiths
of that era. Another
learning experience was a
day as loggers.

AT night we had to
put all ‘smellables’ (all
food, snacks, chapstick,
or anything with an odor
in it) in a ‘Bear’ bag.
Sure enough, one night a
bear snatched our bag
and scarffed up three
days food supplies. We
had a nice hike the next
