from and after the pat -age ot this act, it shall not be lawful for
any free person- of color ’o emigrate to this Repu die.
Ssc. 2. lie it further enacted, That if any irec person of color
shall emigiafo to this Republic, it shall be the duty of the sheriff, or
anyone of the constables of the county to which such emigration
aha!! be made, to arrest such free person of color after giving him
ten days’ notice, and bring him before the Chief Justice of thee ma-
ty, or Judge ot the district; and it *ha’l b the duty of th.- Chief
Justice, or Judge uf the district, before whom such fr e person ot
color may be brought, to receive the bond ot such free person of color
in the sum of one thousand dollars, with ihe security of s citizen, to
be approved by tom Conditiooed for the removal uf such free person
