On earth are absolutely worthless, and in many instan-
ces poisonous, if they are not brought together in the
wav they should be, and this can be done only by .those
who have attended college, giving this profession close
and hard study, thereby preparing themselves for this
most important work. When yrtu people get sick you
do not send for some friend to come and render medi-
cal services because you like him You send for a doc-
tor because you know he knows what to do. I hen when
he writes you a prescription are you going to carry it
to some one who works in a store where they sell drugs
and have it filled just because he s your triend. You
should be more careful about who fills your prescrip-
tions than who writes them. Take no chances, but send
them to Jenkins’ Drug store where they are filled by a
graduate pharmacist.

Nocona, Texas.
Gentlemen:
On Feb. 23, 1908 your Mr. T.
W. Parker wrote me saying that
there was a good opening in your
city for an ice and electric light
plant.
I could not leave here then.
But I can leave now, and am
looking for a location. Will you
please tell me by return mail if
anybody has erected the above
I plants in your city yet. If you
have a good opening for me I
will go down at once to see you.
It is getting late in the year
for erecting an ice plant, so I
urge you for an immediate reply j
and I will return the favor some
time.
Please address me personally
, as below and oblige.
Yours truly,
Edward Hogan .

"It is my business to know'
how to paint as well as to paint;
and I do. You can see my jobs

That’s straight talk. The man
who can talk like that with a
steady eye, will have plenty of
business; good business too; and
will stand-by him.

ed away. Fourth, the stables
and other outhouses should be
thoroughly cleansed and disin-
fected. All stagnant pools should
be drained or oiled. All cisterns
and rain barrels should be
screened, and if already screened
they should be examined for re-
pairs. Fifth, all streets and al-
leys should be treated like pri-
vate premises thoroughly de-
prived of all weeds, rubbish and
stagnant pools.
Every citizen in this state can
do some little thing to help Clean
Up Day. If you anticipate a
general clean up let it be done on
this day, because insects and
vermin, rats, mice and other
nuisances when attacked from
all sides at once suffer more.
Let us all co-operate. In no
other way could energy be bet-
ter expended than in making our
state cleaner aqd purer. "Clean-
liness is next to Godliness.” Let
us show that we appreciate the
truth of this axiom.
If a woman loves a man, that’s
her business; if a man loves a
woman, that’s his business; if
you want your clothes cleaned,
pressed, repaired, or altered,
that’s my business. Come and
see me for your spring and sum-
mer suits, next door to News of-
fice. C. B. Berry.
Good News
FOR THE
People of Nocona
We have obtained the selling and distributing agency
for the celebrated Nyal’s Family Remedies. In every
line of business there is a “best” product. You know
the name of the best piano, the best silverware, the
best hat—and druggists all know that Nyal’s are the
best family remedies.
The New York and London Drug Co., who make them
are an old and conservative house, who make their
goods absolutely right, keeping them at the highest
standard of quality. They allow them to be sold only
in the best stores; they do not allow any exaggerated
or untrue advertising of Nyal’s Remedies to be done.
They place the formulas in our possession so that we
can know exactly what woaro selling. It is the right
way to do business and we are proud to have Nyal s
Family Remedies in our store for it is true all over the
country that "every Nyal store is a good store.” And if
you trade with us, you know that ours is a, good store
a store that keeps all that a drug store ought to and
sells at reasonable prices—a store that gives you what
you want—a store that is anxious to please you in every
way—a store that keeps its old customers and adds
many new ones every year. Com '■ in and see us; we
treat people right. That reputation is what got us the
agency for Nyal’s Family Remedies.

Texas Women Create Clean-Up
Day.
Same day as last year, March
10th. The Civic Committee of
the TexasFederationof Women's
Clubs after conferring with our
State Health Officer have decided
on March 10th as our annual
Clean-up Day. On this day the
ladies will importune our local
authorities, mayors and county
commissioners, and request them
to do their part in cleaning up.
It is not fair for the ladies to do
it all. They are willing to thor-
oughly renovate their homes but
"what is sauce for the goose is
sauce for the gander,” and so
they want the men in office to
see that all public buildings,
streets, alleys, ditches, etc., are
cleansed as well.
The following is something like
the schedule which it is desired
to carry into effect. First, all
buildings either public or pri-
vate should be dusted, swept,
deprived of cobwebs, scrubbed,
sunned, aired, white washed, re-
painted or papered. Second,
all premises should be freed from
accumulated rubbish and trash.
Everything burnable should be
turned into ashes. All heavy
stuff should be transported to
' the dump ground. Third, all
weeds, grasses, and other vege-
table growths should be cut down
or pulled up and burned or haul

Letter to A. Moore
Nocona, Texas.
Dear sir: Tell the owner:
pair.t Devoe, nothing else, unless
you want me to paint something
else: I’ll paint whatever you like;
it’s your house, not mine; your
job, not mine: It’s mine if I do it
my way; it’s yours if I do it
your way.
"It will cost jou less, Devoe;
less gallons to buy and brush-on;
less money for paint, less money
for wages; a gallon put on is
about $5; Devoe will cost less by
a tenth to a half, according to
what you compare it with; and
