The La Grange Leopard “B”

yards out, and also added the two
extras.

mmy Sladek sparked the offense.
Bobby Zoch scored all the Lep
points in the Junior High game as
they defeated Brenham, 14-12, at

La Grange’s Leopards romped
to a 49-14 victory over Luling’s
Eagles here Friday night and
cinched a tie for the 19-A A crown.
Decisive factor lies with the Col-
umbus Cardinals who have one
more game to play. Should they
win over Hallettsville next Friday
night they would share the top
honors with the Leps and repr-
esent the district. A Cardinal
loss, or tie, however, would give
the title crown to the deserving
Leps.
With Quarterback Ronnie Voss
in rhe drivers seat, La Grange
scored twice in the first quart< r,
once in rhe second quarter, twice
in the third period and two more
times in the remaining quarter.

T he Eagles tock the ensuring
pick on their 12 and started a
drive that resulted in a CliT
Mitchell touchdo’wn from 8yards
out. The kick for the extra point
was wide. The Eagle’s drive was
highlighted by four passes in
which Mi’ehell displayed airial
ability, connecting each time with
either Tommy Wells or big Frank
Trcsner.
The kick after touchdown was
taken on the 25 by La Grange and
six plays later Fritsch carried
from the It) for another Leopard
sci re after which Voss’s kick sp-
lit the uprights and the Leps went
ahead 13-(3.

Eagle 3, from where Fritsch sc-
ored again and Voss’s kick was
true. The drive was highlighted
by a 16 yard run by Ronald Ro-
han who was another Lepturning
in a splendid performance.
The Eagles upped their score
next as they intercepted a pass
on the 43 and then used Mit-
chell passes to bring the ball to
the 5. It was from there that
Mitchell carried for the score
and then connected with Donnie
Tresner in the endzone for 2
extras. They trailed 20-14 as
halftime came.
Voss received the after halt
kickoff on his 23 for a return to
the 46.- Fritsch was good to the
Eagle 45 and Voss picked up a
first and the ball rested on the 38.
Fritsch picked up four more, and
an offsides penalty brought the
ball back to the Eagle 39. On the
next play Voss galloped around,
through, under, and over tacklers
for another Leopard score and
then carried for the extras to give
La Grange a 28-14 lead.
La Grange’s next score came on
a 19-yard run by Voss. He ad-'
ded the extra point.
Fourth quarter action saw Voss
run 38 yards and then 35 yards
for two more Leopard touch-
downs. He added the extra points
after each counter. The final ta-
lly was highlighted by a .58 yard
run by David Fritsch.
Thus the Leopards brought do-
wn rhe curtain on their regular
season of District 19-AA action
in a game in which they were nev-
er forc< d to punt. Their deter-
mined drive brought to light the
championship team that they are
and they will ccntinuetoworkout
this week as they wait for the out
come of the Columbus-Halletts-
ville game.
