La Bahia H. D. Club Meets
The La Bahia Home Demon-
stration club met on Feb. 21, at
the home of Mrs. Erich Braun
with 16 members present. The
cancer bandages which had been
made by the members were to be
sent to Austin to the Cancer
Association. A discussion was
he’d about the Homestead Im-
provement workshop at A&M on
Feb. 28 and March 1. The La
Bahia club served at the council
meeting in La Grange on Fri-
day Feb. 22.
Recreation at the meeting was
won by Mrs. Henry Plueckhahn,
Mrs. H. F. Fuchs, and Mrs. No-
lan Havermann. Lunch was
served by Mrs. Quintus Zwer-
nemann, Mrs. Melvin Wickel,
Mrs. Erich Braun, and Mrs. Mil-
ton Behnke.
The next meeting will be held
at the homd of Mrs. Alfred Et-
zel on March 21.
G. O. C. Goes On Watch
On Sunday February 13, the
Ground Observer Corp post at
Carmine went on watch. They
began the watch at 10 a. m. re-
mained on watch until 5 p. m.
The observers, observing in
shifts, spotted and reported a
total of ten aircraft during the
alert.
Volunteers are urged to sign
up for the Ground Observer
Corp at either the Carmine Bank
or at the Carmine Post Office.

living room of the H. E. Cottage
on Tuesday afternoon.
The prospective bride was pre-
sented a corsage of kitchen gad-
gets. Blue crepe paper and a
large kitchen pot were the feat-
ured decorations.
The bride to be expressed her
thanks for the many beautiful
gifts after which refreshments
of ham salad sandwiches, cake,
cookies, potato chips and punch
were served.

Coach W. F. Graeber’s Cubs
won the District 77B champion-
ship by defeating the Burton
Panthers by a score of 62-61 at
the Marie Heineke Memorial
Gymnasium Friday night.
The Carmine lads led at the
end of every quarter. The first
quarter ended, 18-16; half, 32-
27; third quarter, 48-45; and the
final score was 62-61. The Bur-
dish supper which had been
brought by the wives, was serv-
ed. After the table prayer was
taid, all joined in ''Happy Birth-
(’ay” to Rev. A. T. Kluge who
had hb CC.h birthday anniver-
sary.
