Fourteen Attend
Brotherhood Meet
Austin—Over 300 delegates of
Brotherhoods of the American
Lutheran Church in Texas, Ark-
ansas and Louisiana, Saturday
and Sunday heard challenges to
make their church "a teaching
church” and do greater work in
Christ’s Kingdom at the 19th
Annual Brotherhood Convention
of the Texas District, ALC.
The two-day meeting, held in
St. Martin’s Lutheran Church,
Austin, had as its theme, “Bro-
therhood in Christian Educa-
tion”, with Dr. R. A. Vogeley,
Director of Parish Education, A-
merican Lutheran Cnurch, Col-
umbus, Ohio, as the keynote
speaker.

In former years the earlier
service was arranged for chiefly
because of the weather during
the warm months. A growing
worship attendance, however,
has been so encouraging during
recent months that, for the sake
of the comfort of more worship-
pers the double service schedule
will begin now.
In addition to the two Sunday
morning services, mid-week ser-
vices will be conducted each

ton; three sons, Alois Matejow-
sky of Houston, Elmo W. Mate-

' sister, Mrs. Laura Dooley of Gid-
dings; and 23 grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Matejowsky was born at
Nechanitz, a son of Wenzel and
Christine Dittrich Matejowsky,
on Dec. 26, 1874. A retired mer-
chant and farmer, he also served
as postmaster for over 41 years.
He was a merchant in Nechanitz
for over 50 years. *
Funeral services were con-
1 ducted by the Rev. H. T. Flach-
meier in the Koenig Funeral
Home Chapel at 2:30 PM Sun-
day, Feb. 24, and interment was
made in the Waldeck Cemetery. ■
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grebe of
Welcome announce the engage-
ment and approaching marriage
of their daughter, Jo Ann, to
Clinton Blezlnger, son of Mr.
and Mrs. W. H. Blezinger of In-
dustry.
The wedding will take place
on April 6 at the Welcome Luth-
eran Church.

Adix, J., secretary, Yorktown,
who have a year remaining in
their term of office.
The two-day convention feat-
ured seminar meetings on Satur-
day morning, afternoon business
sessions on Saturday and Sun-
day; a report on the National
Brotherhood by Rev. Landdeck,
a report on Texas Lutheran Col-
lege by Dr. E. A. Sagebell, pre-
sident; a report on the Brother-
hood’s “Pre-Theological Aid and
Scholarship Fund Plan” by W.
Kuenemann of Houston and H.
Kalscheuer, McGregor; and two
addresses by Dr. Vogeley.
In their closing business ses-
sion, delegates to the convention
voted to hold their 20th Annual
Convention in 1958 at Houston,
Texas.
