say-die Hornets racked up their
second touchdown. Jerry Kubin
passed to Herbert Fedora for
33 yards and the score. Skraba-
nek missed the extra fx)int try.
With three minutes left in
the game the La Grange eleven
climaxed their scoring barrage
for the night 'when Dickie Eh-
lert pasted to Richard Roberts
on a pjay that covered 75 yards.
Terry Brugger’s try for the ex-
tra point nit the goal post and
fell no goods
With two miputes left in the
game Coach Newbill fulfilled a
players dream. Husky 215
pound center Dale Mitchell had
his dream come true when he
was sent into the game to play
defensive halfback for the Leo-
points and the score was 7-0 iniPards. The result was that on

The'Leps scored again on the ran into Mitchell’s zone and Jer-
ry Kubin tossed a pass to him.
Mitchell leaped but the pass
was over him:,and Skrabanek
grabbed the pigskin and raced
for the , goal. Big Mitchell chas-
ed the speed Skrabanek to the
end zone but neved quite caught
the Caldwell man. Skrabanek
scored and following the wide
extra point try the game ended
with the score La Grange 40
and Caldwell 18.
Although Dale Mitchell was
somewhat of a failure as a de-
fensive halfback he played ■
spartan ball at his home posi-
tion at center. Mitchell along -

Leopards. Buddy Kallus played
a great game at line-backer and
fullback. Ralph Rosenberg made
Constant gains for the Leps in-
cluding runs of 70, 21, 16, 18,
and 10 yards. Dickie Ehlert .was
outstanding as he quarterback-
ed the Leps to Victory. Ehlert
completed three of seven passes
for a gain of 168 yards. Charles
Hengst and Terry Brugger also
played fine ball for the rampag-
ing Leopards.
The Leopards play their last
District game of the 1953 sea-
son when they meet their old
rivals the Schulenburg Short-
horns at Schulenburg on Fri-
day, Nov. 20. Game time is 8:00
o’clock.

During the half-time ceremo-
nies the La Grange football
queen was announced. She was
Miss Dotty Koehl.
The Hornets came roaring
back to open the second
when they marched down
field for 62 yards on 7 plays to
score. Jerry Kubin hit paydirt
when he scampered around end
for 19 yards and a TO. Henry
Skrabanek’s try for point was
' blocked leaving the score Leps
14 and the Hornets 6.
Seven plays and 83 yards la-
ter the Leopards scored again.
Quarterback Dickie Ehlert
pitched a pass to Halfback
Ralph Rosenberg for a gain of
70 yards on the pass and run to
score. Richard Roberts again
booted the point after and La
Grange led 21-6.
The Leps scored again late in
the third quarter when Buddy
Kallus went through the Hornet
line for 8 yards and then he la-
tereled off to Ralph Rosenberg
who ran 70 more yards to score.
Roberts again added the extra
point and the score was 28-6, in

favor of the Leps.
In the fourth quarter Charles
Hengst opened the scoring^ when
he scampered 20 yards for a
six pointer. Roberts missed the
extra point and La Grange led
34.6.

Leps Drop Caldwell
By 40-18 Score
The Ld Grange Leopards,
mentored by Coaches Joe New-
bill and Marvin Dixon, ripped
through the visiting Caldwell
Hornets by a 40-18 score, here
at Leopard Field Friday night,
Nov. 13. The Leopards proved
to everyone that they are not
to be counted out of the race for
the district 25AA champion-
ship.
The two elevens played
scoreless battle through
first quarter, although the Leps
did cross the Hornet goal line.
Ace qutfrteback Dickie Ehlert
passed to little Terry Brugger
in the end kone for 19 yards but
the play was called back and the
Leopards were penalized.
In the second quarter the
Leps scored again and this time
it counted. Charles Hengst
climaxed an 83 yard Lep drive
when he plowed to paydirt from
the Caldwell 4. Richard Roberts
added the first of four extra
