New MetroPlan telephone service, combining the
telephone systems of Fort Worth and the surrounding
communities served by Southwestern Bell into one large
telephone exchange, is now in effect.
With MctroPlan, you simply dial the number as listed
in the directory to call any other Bell telephone in the
Fort Worth metropolitan exchange. There is no need
. to dial “ 1 ” preceding the number. And there are no
longer interzone charges on calls within the exchange.
On long distance calls, you will continue to dial “1,”
then the area code, then the telephone number.

___________
MetroPlan is the biggest single telephone project ever
undertaken here, representing an outlay of more than
$9Vi million and 30 months of work and planning by
hundreds of telephone people.
Larger Toll-Free Dialing Area
It increases the size of the toll-free dialing area here
by more than /ive times — from 171 Jo 928 square miles.
By eliminating the barrier of interzone dialing and
interzone charges, it in effect creates a larger market for
buyers and sellers here, and promotes the free flow of
trade throughout the area.
MeTROPLAN is truly a telephone system for the
Fort Worth area to grow on. It will provide for present
telephone needs here and lay the groundwork for the
even greater telephone system which will be needed in
the future for this great and growing region.
NOTE: With MetroPlan, you will continue
to have direct, toll-free dialing to all tele-
phones formerly included in your local dial-
ing scope, PLUS all other Bell telephones
in the Greater Fort Worth metropolitan
exchange

Use New Telephone Directory
Be sure to use your new telephone directory. Some
telephone numbers have been changed, and these new
numbers are included in the new directory. Discard your
old phone book and use only the new June. 1968. di-
rectory in the future.
New jates are effective with MetroPlan for most cus-
tomers in the Fort Worth area. These will be shown and
explained on customers’ bills dated after June 16.
