the details of
his platform as the campaign
progressed, adding that his key
planks would include stepped-
up soil and water conservation,
including adequate water stor-
age dams on Central Texas
streams, fair and adequate
pensions for veterans, support
for farm programs which will
assure fair and equitable in-
comes to farmers, insistence
on fair and equitable treat-
ment for rural electric coopera-
tives, and support for pro-
grams to help small business-
men.
“The record shows that in
too many counties of the Sixth
District the economy not only
is failing to keep up with
economic growth nationally but
is even falling behind, as evi-
denced by declining population
in some areas,” Sen. Moore ex-
plained. “As Congressman, I
will fight for programs which
will benefit the entire area, i
a fight which must be carried
on at the national level by
Texas members of Congress.”
Sen. Moore, a 41-year-old
Bryan attorney, is a veteran of
Army service as an enlisted j

Sen. Moore, who has served
as State Senator since 1948,
said that immediate action is
needed to help keep this Cen-
tral Texas area in step with the
nation’s expanding economy
and that, as Congressman, he
would see to it that “there is
less talk and more action in
getting such things as badly-
needed water storage t-> help
both agriculture and industry
in the area.”

"I have long felt that this
important Central Texas area
needs and deserves more ag-
gressive representation 1 n
Washington by a Congressman
who will truly represent all of
the people of the district and
will get things done for the
district," Sen. Moore declared.
"I feel that my 13 years of
service as State Representative
and State Senator have pre-
pared me for service as Con-
gressman and justify my re-
quest for promotion. In those
13 years of public service I
have demonstrated my ability
to get things done for the

District will send me to repre-
sent them in
