DEAR MISTER EDITOR:
Jt never ceases to amaze me1
how the the fellers at the coun-
try store manage to stay one
jump ahead of world events.
You recollect late last year they
were talking about the Arabs
falling out with one another
about raising the prices of their
oil, and the fellers figgered the
Arabs was worried about com-
petition from Alaska oil/coming
through the new pipelme. The
Arab oil item was on the agend-
der Saturday night, and Ed
Doo little reported it looks like
the Jaunary price hike has back
fired.
Ed said Iran’s oil sales is
down 40 per cent; and it is hav-
ing to cut back on all kinds of
building and buying on account
of the loss of income. It looks
like their greed may turn on
* em, went on Ed. By the. time
they relize they’re hurting their
pelves by gouging their oil cus-
tomers that they have to buy
everthing they need from may-
be we can get the Alaska oil
moving. Ed said the las Arab
oil price jump could help us by
forcing us to figger ways to help
ourselves. ,
General, the fellers saw what
Ed was driving at. Bug Hookum
said we ought to do the same
thing with this coffee pricing.
Even if we can’t grow our own,
* Bug said, weyean go back to
other days to skin the cat. Bug
had saw in the paper where
"depression coffee" was com-
ing back. A feller had roasted
and ground barley and mixed it
half-and-half with coffee and
served it to folks at a party.
Nobody could tell the differen-

ter for you, Bug said.
Actual, Mister Editor, the
fellers was full agreed that Am-
ericans are to set in their ways.
We git in a rut and we call it a
groove and we stay .there. It
goes back to wimmen w^rfting
the same lengths of shirts, and
the men wanting the same kind
of haircuts. We fall behind
