JAMIE SPILLER ESCORT
There was a cotton style show
at College Station April 5. A
royal court composed of 75 young
women . appeared in cotton cos-
tumes'. Jamie Spiller of Canadian,
was an escort to the Duchess of
Texas University, who was Doro-
thy Hedges of College Station.
BIRTHDAY PARTY
Natalie Hutton, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Preston Hutton,
celebrated her eighth birthday,
March 29. A number of her
friends helped her celebrate the
occasion. Ice cream and birthday
cake were served; Favors were
pink and white rabbits. Guests in-
cluded.: Barbara Young, Frieda
Zybach, Bobbie Wiggins, Buddy
Hobdy, Corky Tepe, Norma Jean
Tepe, Virginia Lee Zollars, Eliza-
beth Crow, Marie Miller, Joan
Studer, Bettie Jean Hutton and
Betty Jo Rathjen.
LOCUST GROVE H. D. CLUB
"We could never raise toma-
toes until we sub-irrigated," said
Mrs. J. I. Payton, a visitor to
the Locust Grove Home Demon-
stration Club, which met with
Mrs. L. E. Pundt, April 5. Many
members spoke encouragingly of
their experiences with sub_irri-
gation and several more are put-
ting in their first this year.
Candlewicking was also dem-
onstrated and threads and ma-
terials used were discussed. Miss
Oliver, the agent, is making two
bed spreads and each member was
allowed to try some of the stitch-
ing.
At the conclusion of the meet-
ing refreshments were served to
the following members: Mrs. R.
H. Cowan, Mrs. L. G. Bussard,
Mrs. Chas. Robbins and Mrs. L.
E. Pundt, and to Mrs. J. I. Pay-
ton, Mrs. Tom Kendall and Mrs.
Fred Farnsworth as visitors, and
Miss Oliver, the home demon-
stration agent. The next meeting
is with Mrs. Geo. Williams, April
I,9, and' the A. A. A program will
be discussed.

saving in labor; ,& more uniform
irrigation; and a more effective
result.

Killebrew, Grady Norvill, Jack
Williams, Miss Valeska Newell,
and Miss Sadie Lee Oliver, all of
Canadian. Members present were:
Mesdames Abernethy, Freeman,
Green, Bradstreet, Johnson,
Stoneman. and the hostess, Mrs..
Thomas.
The next meeting will be on
April 18 at the home of Mrs,
Ralph Freeman.
BOOSTER H. D. CLUB
The Booster Home Demonstra-
tion Club met with Miss Madelyn
Cann Tuesday, April 2. The sub-
ject for the afternoon was "Irri-
gation." Mrs. Charles Newcomer
read an interesting pamphlet on,
"Different Kinds of Irrigation."
Ten members and one visitor were
present. The club will meet with
Mrs. C. M. Gettle on April 22.

Eighteen members of the Ca-
nadian Chapter of the 0. E. S.
went to Spearman Friday night,
where they put on work. Those

Don Duggan, who has been in
the CCC camp in Arizona, has re-
turned home.
