with the interior of the casing 1, said -brush
being so positioned that it will contact with
the endless conveyer 4 and remove the lint
from the teeth thereon. Said brush is keyed
5 to a shaft 22 drawn by belted connection
with the pulley 14 upon the shaft 2.
The operation of our apparatus is as fol-
lows: The cotton is unloaded from the wagon
through a suitable bur breaker and blown
10 into the pipe 6 and against the blades 7
which are disposed at an inclination to one
another across the feed pipe and which
blades will obstruct the passage of the cur-
rent of, air, the blades: thus. causing.,.the cot-
15 ton and burs to be.thrown against the teeth
upon the endless conveyer belt. The teeth
upon 'the endless conveyer belt will carry
the cotton. against the inner ends, of the
blades 8 and the bur being heavier than the
20 lint "will be thrown by centrifugal force
against the blades 8 and tend. to separate
the lint therefrom, portions of the. burs;pass-
ing through the blades 8 and into, the space
9. The particles of burs.and other foreign
25 matter. entering the space. 9 will fall by
gravity .into the conveyer..11 and be; con-
veyed 'away. Larger particles of burs which
do not pass through the blades. 8.will :fall
into the space 17 into the' conveyer :18.. The
30 lint which adheres to the teeth of.'the belt
will be separated therefrom by the brush 20
and drawn to the gin through the. passage-
way in which;the. brush is located.
What we claimto. be' new is:
35 -1. A bur separator-.in combination with.a
casing having. a. feed pipe into which cotton
is introduced, an endless conveyer belt with
teeth thereon, a- series of. deflector. blades
positioned- over' said belt' and designed to
'40 deflect the cotton and burs' toward the belt,
a series of transversely disposed blades
spaced, apart from one, another. 'and posi-

Washingttioned intermediate the conveyer belt and
the vertical wall of. the caking, , the inner
ends of said series of blades having round 45
edges, conveyers in the lower portions of
the casing, and a rotary brush adapted to
separate the lint from the belt.
2. A bur separator in combination with a
casing having a. feed pipe into which cotton 50
is introduced, an endless conveyer belt with
teeth thereon, a series, of deflector. blades
positioned oversaid belt and designed. to...de-
flect the. cotton and burs tpward-the belt, a
series of transversely dispo ede inclined 55
blades spaced front one anotherand extend-
ing upon either side of the conveyerbhelt and
spaced therefrom, conveyers at. the lower
portions of the casing, .and a rotary brush
for separating the, lint from the, conveyer. 60
3. A bur separator in combination with. a
casing having a feed pipe into which.cotton
is introduced, an. endless conveyerbelt with
teeth, thereon, a series of: deflector. blades
positioned oversaid belt and designed to de. 65
fleet the cotton and burs toward, the belt, a
series of transversely disposed inclined
blades spaced.from one another and extend-
ing upon. either side ;of the conveyer:belt,
and underneath the same and. spacediapart 70
front saidconveyer, the conveyers amounted
one above the other and adapted tocayry
away foreign:matter,which comes ancontact
with or;passes:between said series..of;blades,
and a rotary. brush mounted ins the. casing 7
and adapted to separate the lint fromthe
teeth of the belt.,
In testimony whereof we, hereunt affix
