really take notice of some of
the old timers who have been
so faithful to the De Leon
trade area for so many years
and proven their stability over
and over again, consistently
making De Leon a better place
to live.
Suggestion only!
A n^r yoar baa begun and
for nnnfy yean people have
tried to think up various things
that are supposed to bring one
good hick.
For instance, eating
biackeyed pans on New Year’s
Day to supposed to bring the
person eating them good luck.
There are a lot of people who
don’t even like the peas, but |_____
they’ll force themselves to eat
at least a few so they wiH have
a chance at the good luck.
Then there to the saying that
a day of good luck will come
with each single pea
consumed on New Year’s Day.
It is not hard to gulp down 366
peas.
At our house we eat
blackeyed peas the year
around, but I think perhaps
our pea-luck has run out with
the present cattle market we
are “enjoying.” •
Talking about eating, when
you stop to think about it, we
look around and aee all the
animals, fish, and fowl all
working for one thing -
something to eat. Then you
come to human beings who
are supposed to be more
intelligent, and we hate
learned there to much mors to
life than eating. There to
eating, and then dieting.
