School Trustee
Election Saturday
The annual school trustee elec-
tion for the De Leon School Dis-
trict will be held at the City
Hall Saturday, April 5.
All legally qualified voters of
the De Leon School District are
eligible to vote in this election.
There are four men filed as can-
didates for two vacancies. They
are Mr. W. A. Morgan, Mr. Rob-
ert Guinn, Mr. Jack Donahue,
and Mr. Roy Thomas.
Two are to be elected caused
by the termination of the terms
of Mr. W. A. Morgan, who is seek-
ing re-election, and Mr. A. R.
parsons who is not running for
re-election.
At the same time the voters
will vote for their County School
Trustees. Mr. J. A. Lightfoot
who is now serving as County
School Trustee for Precinct 4 is
a candidate unopposed for an-
other term. In addition to the
voting for a county trustee for
Precinct 4, the voters will vote
on the re-election of Mr. P. A.
Pettit for County School trustee
at-large.

LEASES GREYHOUND BUS
The Central Texas Bus Co. has
leased the Greyhound bus line
from Waco to Eastland. The run ■
from Houston to Denver—the
line* coach all the way.
The bus, one of Greyhound's
newest, goes through De eLon
"twice a day. To Houston via Wa-
co at 7:25 a.m. From Houston ar-
riving in De Leon at 2:40 p.m.
The Central Texas Bus line
takes it to Eastland where the
T. M. N. & O. Bus Line takes it
to Amarillo where the Grey-
hound Co. takes over to Denver.
This is an added accomodation
to De Leon travelers. The Cen-

; Leonites appreciate this fast and
convenient service that links De
Leon with all other main lines
of travel.
People all along this route are
hoping the bus company will air
condition the regular buses be-

revival Thursday evening.
Mrs. Quay Parmer and son of
Dallas, Mrs. Earl Ward and son
of Waco were weekend guests of
Rev. Quay Parmer and Mr. Earl
Ward who had charge of the
Methodist revival which closed
Sunday night Miss Mabel Fow-
ler, also of Waco, was a visitor
over the weekend.
Mrs. C. R. Vinson and son,
Mitchell of Bryan, visited her
sister, Mrs. Leslie Hale. Her
mother, Mrsi C. D. Matsler of
Lometa was a recent visitor. | i

Mrs. Homer Wood has returned
from a three week’s visit to Iowa
where she visited her daughter,
Mary, and her husband. While
there a little baby girl arrived
to live with Mary and Bill. They
named her > Deborah Saridee.
Both mother and baby are doing
well. Mrs. Wood says there is
lots of moisture in Iowa but the
weather is too cold for her.
Mrs. Roy Smith spent last, week
in Odessa visiting in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Roy Smith.
Mrs. Grady Ritter and children
of Seminole spent the weekend
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
F. M. Moorehead and other rela-
tives.
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Gray of
Oklahoma City, Okla, were
guests this week of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. R. S. McCharen
and other relatives.

The 4-H Club of Cornyn met
Thursday, March 13, at the
Homemaking Department. Offi-
cers were elected as follows:

One visitor, Mrs. Simms, was

The discussion in sewing was;

ing, stitching darts and pressing.

Johnson Wins at Tarleton
Herman Johnson, who has
been doing exceedingly well in
tossing the shot put, won first
place in that event as well as first
in the discus at the Tarleton Re-
lays last week. He put the shot
52 ft and 13-4 in. which it is be-
lieved to be a record at the Tar-
leton Relays. He threw the dis-
cus 133 ft and 9 in.
