The Sunday service at the Co-
mvn Baptist Church was very
well attended. The pastor, Bro.
Reese brought a Mother’s Day
sermon. -
There will be an announcement
later concerning the annual
home coming day June 1, but we
are looking forward to the time
and we hope many friends will
plan to attend.
We were happy to have several
visitors at the Sunday morning
service, among them being Mrs
Easley and three dauhgters, Jane,
Martha and Jo Catherine, and
Joyce Brush.
Rev. H. C. Cox and Rev. and

Comanche County Baptist Work-
ers Conference at Downing last
Thursday night.

Mother’s Day at Van Dyke was
observed in a beautiDul manner
in both churches, and in the
homes. At the Freewill Baptist a
beautiful program of song and
verse was rendered by the chil-
dren and young people follow-
ing the Sunday School lesson.
Then the pastor, Rev. W. A. Hear-
ron, preached a fine sermon,
reading his scripture text from
Ruth, chapter 1. He spoke on the
subject. “The power and influ-
ence of a good woman.” Climax-
ing the service was the extend-
ing of the right hand of fellow-
ship to a new member, Mr. James
Warren.
In the homes here, Mother was
I honored by the gathering of
loved ones and friends. In many
homes large groups met and fine
lunches were prepared and serv-
ed. But those were too numer-
ous to be given in detail in this
column.

Mr. Dave Griffith had the mis-
fortune to be bitten by a civet
cat one morning last week and
is now taking the “shots.” The
cat got away and couldn’t be lo-
cated that it might be sent to
be examined to see if it had ra-

carry her mother home, who had
been visiting in her home the
