Study on South
East Asia April 15
The Woman’s Society of Chris-
tian Service met at the church for
our third lesson of our study on
South East Asia, April 15th.
Mrs. Williams called the meeting
to order- Mrs. Nowlin led the song Moore, Patterson, Warren, Martin,

HD Council Hears
District Reports
Delegates representing Coman-
che County, who attended the Dis-
trict 8 meeting in Lampasas a few
days ago, gave oral reports at the
regular council meeting on Mon-
day afternoon, April 8. Mrs. Don
Gray, council chairman presided,
and gave the delegates, Mrs. Bill
Tucker and Mrs. Charlie Hicks,
THDA Chairman give the high-
lights of, the District 8 THDA pro-
gram presented and sponsored by
the Lampasas County HD chib
women. Mrs. Ross Miller the other
delegate could not attend the re-
port meeting.
Approximately 200 dub women
heard Mrs. Carl Herfurth, THDA
Vice-President at large, from Gar-
land. speak on the Texas Home De-
monstration Association and its
growth through the past 30 years
Her topic was titled "The Journey
Ahead ’ ’. She related the history of
the Association’» activities and pur-
pose of organization, which was to
create a scholarship for a 4-H club
girl. The past three decades have
seen the establishment of three such
$500 scholarships to worthy 4-H
club girls-
Mrs. Hicks instructed club lead-
ers to elect delegates to the state
meeting next month. State meeting
will be in the Rice Hotel, Houston,
July 31 - Aug. -12.
Clubs represented at Monday’s
meeting were Hazel Dell, Indian
Mountain, Saint Joe and Newberg.
Mr.. Morton gave a fine part on
Formosa; Mrs. Joiner told us
about Hong Kong; Mrs. Nowlin
gave an interesting part on Indo
China; Mrs. Marlin told us of the
dKurch work in Indo China; Mrs.
Rice gave a fine part on Thailand,
which was enjoyed by all present.
Those present were M’mes- Rice,
Williams, Nowlin, Joiner, Perry,
gan, Logsdon, Terrill, Hill

Mrs. Ray Harvey
Hostess To
Shakespeare Club
The lovely home of Mrs. Ray
Harvey was opened to members of
the Shakespeare Club on Wednes-
day afternoon, April 3rd for a de-
lightful spring social.
Guests were given materials of
crepe paper, ribbons, flowers, etc.,
and asked to design an Easter hat-
Each creation was modeled and
Mrs. G. W. Rollins was acclaimed
the most original designer.
Individuals and groups then pre-
sented various skits and stunts
which exposed many hidden talents
among the group.
Refreshments of pimento cheese
an chicken salad sandwiches, con-
gealed salad, potato chips, pickles,
olives, chocolate cake, eolfee and
tea were served by the social com-
mittee, composed of Mrs. Lex ^hel-
by, Mrs. L. C. Daniell, and Mrs-
Ray Harvey.
The next meeting will be April 17
in the home of Mrs. S. E. Weaver.

Reta Richmon, Comanche Coun-
ty 4-H’er, is pictured at her sew-
ing machine in the May issue of
The Progressive Farmer magazine.
The article Co-ed Sews for Class-
mates ’ tells how Reta is helping pay
college expenses at Tarleton State
College with her skillful hands and
sewing machine.
Reta receives $6 for making a
dress for a classmate. She also
earns money for mending and alter-
ing clothes. She has made more
than 100 garments.
Among Reta ’• sewing honors has
been her selection as winner of Dis
trict 8 dress revue twice and eighth
place honors in die slate dress re-
vue in 1955.
PARENTS OF SON
Mr. and Mrs. Joe. Pittman of
Odessa are the proud parents of a
baby boy bom April I, weighing 6
lbs-, 13 oz. and is called Randall
Franklin.
Grand parents are Mr. and Mrs.
A. D. Daniel of Andrews and Mr.
Troy Pittman of Archer City and
Mrs. John Hazle of Snyder.
Great grand parents are Mr. and
