Stephenville, (Spl) — Willard
Robinett, Tarleton State College
sophomore from De Leon, has
been selected for a scholastic
“T” award based on academic
perfoimance during the fall and
spring semester of the 1962-1963
school year.
Eligibility for the scholastic
“T” is based on being selected
to the Distinguished Student list
for any two successive semest-
ers. Requirements for the Dis-
tinguished Student list include
a total of at least 15 semester
hours passed with no grade be-
low “C” and an overall grade
point average of at least 2.25
based on a 3.00 grading system.

Pastor’s Wife Undergoes Surgery
Our pastor’s wife, Mrs. Dur-
wood Hazzard of Ft. Worth, un-
derwent surgery last week. Sun-
day night church services were
dismissed that Rev. Hazzard
might return home early to be
at her bed side.
Mrs. Pearl Barnes returned
home after visiting her daughter
and grand daughter and family
for several days. She visited in
Sulphur Springs with Mrs.
Brooks Emmons; in New Boston
with the Abb Kestlers; in Lan-
caster with the Robert Jones;
In Gilmer with the John Henrys.
While she was there, they ac-
companied Mrs. Brooks Emmons
to Love Field where she board-
ed a plane for France to visit
her son and family, who are sta-
tioned there.
Mrs. B. L. Painter had visit-
ing her Monday through Thurs-
day, her daughter-in-law and
grand daughter, Mrs. Paul
Painter, Paula, Nila and Teresa
all of Ft. Worth.
Mr. L. D. Underwood was in
Fort Worth on last Friday for
a medical checkup.
Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Nowlin
and family had as recent guests
her sister and family, the Gol-
den’s of Ft. Worth.
Mrs. Myrtle Barnes, Jerry and
Lana visited Sunday afternoon
in Dublin with her father, Luke
Carver and a sister and family,
the Fred Coopers.

baby, Mike, of Sweetwater.
Jesse reports a fine meeting
with groups of his little friends
in Dublin for last Saturday,
June 29th.
Mark Beaty, a young son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Beaty of Cor-
pus Christi was a visitor in Zion
Hill Sunday school and church
services here last Sunday.
Mark’s mother is the former
Miss Margaret Grigsby, a daugh-
ter’ of Mr. and Mrs. W. M.
Grigsby. She is a native of Van
DyU:
Next Sunday afternoon is the
date for the regular monthly
singing at the local Gartman
View Church. Song service is set
to begin about two o’clock.

Last Week’s News
The two local churches report
a total Sunday school attend-
ance of 62 for last Sunday, June
30th. Gartman View had 38 and
Zion Hill had 24.
For the week ending Saturday
of June 29th., Van Dyke regis-
tered .10 of an inch of rain.
That came Wednesday afternoon
of June 26th.
That made a total of 2.80
inches of rain for the month of
June at Vin Dyke.
And so that makes a total of
an even 14.00 inches of rain for
Van Dyke during the first six
months of 1963.
The Gartman View church re-
ports a great service for last
Sunday morning, June 30th.
There was one conversion report-
ed, that of Harry Wayne Cloud,
a;-son of Mr. and;Mrs. Harry
Cloud.
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Bratton
had as a visitor in their home
here for Wednesday and Thurs-
day. Mr. Hubert Bratton of De-
Kalb. Texas.
Other visitors in the E. J.
Bratton home during last week
included Mr. and Mrs. Willie
