Wlcn Corder Writes
Cauteret, France,
April 24th, 1919.
«Dear Folks at Home:
4
I hope this letter finds you all
in the best of health. I am in
Cauteret on a 7 day leave. Cau-
teret is a summer resort and is
situated in the Pyrmees moun-
tains, it is down in the valley
with snow capped mountains all
around. I can look out of my
window and see snow on the
largest mountains here, believe
me this is some trip. It could-
n't be beat bnly in one way.
that is "home." It is only 7 or
8 miles to the Spanish border.
We can take hot sulphur baths
every day if we like. Get up in
the morning when we get ready,
Oil! my, some sport. We have a
fine show every day at the Y,
the Y M. C. A. occupies a large
building with a fine opera house
and a nice dance hall, so you can
see we do not want for amuse-
ments. The Y men go out twice
each day with soldiers for hikes
through the mountains. Yes-
terday we took a hike up to the
Spanish bridge, about 4 miles.
I saw some of the most beauti-
ful waterfalls and scenery that
I ever laid eyes on. They have
Frenchmen for guide-*, the air is
cool and fresh, I have only been
here 2 days and feel better al-
ready. We go back to Bordeaux
next Tuesday.
You all wouldn't kno-w me
now if you were to see me, as I
weigh 155 pounds, I only weigh-
ed 125 when I left nome.
1 will close and write you
again tomorrow.
Your loving son and brotner.
W. G. Corder.

Editor Aspermont Star
Aspermont, Texas,
Dear "Bill":
Well I shall pen you a line just
to let you know that 1 was elect-
ed superintendent at Trent last
night at $175. per month for 8
months, and some extras 1 get.
runs it to $184.50, How's that?
Was asked to go 300 miles west
at $1">00, but, Oh, Boy! nothing
doing that far west.
Will, 1 shall never forget your
kindness to me, while in AMper-
mont. You materially, helped
me to teach my school, and
words are inadequate to express
my appreciation to yourself and
good wife. We call you friends.
May you ever prosrer. and
may the "Star" continue to
shine as the brightest in the
West, shedding its light jji
the way. that some benighted
soul may be led into fairer fields
of living and usefulness by its
ever shining light.
Continue to lead onword and
upward, the best bunch of boys
and girls that ever attended a
High School.
Guess 1 had better ring off as
something always gets into my
eyes, when I think of my pupils
up there.
Very truly
Jno. F. Odor.
