Burglars were active in Burleson the latter part of
last week, with Buddies Super Market being the vic-
tim Thursday night, when u ventilator in the roof of
the building was torn loose, and dropped onto the floor
of the concern, though not until it had struck an ice
cream box, breaking the lid.
Dropping through the hole in the ceiling and roof
the thieves ransacked the hardware department, tak-
ing high priced guns, pistols, radios, knives, cameras,
drills, films, gloves, lighters and other valuable mer-
chandise. Cigarettes were also among the items taken.
The burglars failed to get into the safe in the front
of the store, though they did knock the knob off, doing
considerable damage to the strong box. They left the
building through the back door by using a new hack-
saw to cut the rear door lock. Darrell Parks, store

Burglars Hit Two Concerns Here
manager, discovered the loss when he opened the store
Friday morning.
Haskew & Gamble was the second victim of the
week. Burglars prized off bars across back windows
to enter this store, then knocked the knob from the
safe, though they failed to get the safe open, when the
pen failed to drop. Mr. Gamble said he had not missed
any merchandise, so they apparently left without any-
thing for their efforts and chance.
This is the second time this concern has been burg-
larized in a year. The other time the safe was opened
in the same manner as it was tried last week, and it
opened the first time. Some fifty or sixty dollars was
stolen the first time.
Mr. Gamble said the damage to the safe far ex-
ceeds the loss of the money stolen.
