CROWLEY
CORNER
—By Mrt. L. D. Chapman—
Wednesday, October 24 was
a day of inspiration and chal-
lenge for the ladies of the
First Baptist Church, as they
met in the church recreation
room to install new officers for
the coming year and to observe
the 75th Anniversary of the
“Women’s Missionary Union.”
Miss June Whitlow the guest
of honor from the Baptist Semi-
nary of Fort Worth was the In-
stalling Officer. Her message
‘‘The Chain Link” around the
world was most inspiring and a
great challenge to those who
heard it.
A covered dish luncheon was
served from tables decorated
to bring out the 75th Anniver-
sary Theme. The guest table
was centered with a two tiered
Anniversary cake with silver
and blue ceramic dolls dressed
in the 1888 fashion surround-
ing.
Mrs. Marvin Adams was in
charge of the program. The
ladies participating were also
dressed in the early fashions.
The program was from the Old
and Modern Beauty Salons.
Many items long forgotten and
never seen by some were on
display to make the program
very realistic. Members attend-
ing were: Mmes. Robert
Franks, President; E. J. Round-
tree, W. S. Horn, Sr., Mabie
Smith, Harry Teeter, John Mc-
Carter, F. H. Stevens, Everett
Henderson, S. E. Deason, J. La-
Favor, L. Morrison, C. Roberts,
B. L. Curtis, R. L. Cox, M.
Adams, Terry Martin, R. C.
Tritten and C. N. Davenport.
The Crowley P-TA wishes to
thank each and everyone re-
sponsible for the wonderful
turn-out at the Fall Festival
held October 26 at the school.
There was a wonderful crowd
and we hope each one had as
good a time as we did.
Mrs. Maybell Myers cele-
brated her 67th birthday Octo-
ber 28th with a birthday din-
ner at the home of her daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Lasater,
Donna and Blake spent last
week-end visiting her sister,
Mrs. L.F. Perkey in Texarkana.

ating following surgery at
