DO IT RIGHT
ihe proposal to give public
lands to returned soldiers needs
a Certain amount of watching,
it is an excellent one, if it does
not operate to the soldiers' dis-
advantage.
It has been charged that the
present scheme is to select land
lyiog in desert districts or in
Swamps, and to impose upon the
soldiers the work of reclamation.
If this is true, it is an uncon-
scionable imposition.
The purpose of such a scheme
should be to reward the soldiers
—not to enable the nation, or
rather, that" part cf it that did
not go to war, to profit at their
expense. There are millions of
acres of public land ready for
cultivation at once, Give that to
the discharged veterans; the
swamps can be drained and the
deserts irrigated at the public
cost—not at the expense of the
soldierw.
The loan offered to the >oldiers
to furnish them with the nsces-
sary funds would not discharge
the nation's debt, as the ad-
vanjes must be repaid at four
par cent. If we are calling the
grants a free gift, make them
so in fact as well us in name.

THE
AL CAR
For the greatest protection of owners of
Ford cars, that they may receive the largest
possible service from their cars, the Ford Mo-
tor Company has adopted the liberal policy of
f iling to any responsible Garage throughout
the United States, the genuine Ford Parts, up-
on such Garages agieeing to give the real Ford
service. This accon-plishes two splendid re-
suit8. First, the widest possible satisfactory
service to the owners of Ford cars; Second, a
larger and more profitable business for every
Garage. I'here is now no reason why every
Ford owner may not demand and insist upon
genuine Ford Parts being used wh^n h's cir
requires attention.
