recovered around $8'2.000 in stolen
propertv seized $150,000 in illegal
drugs and paid out over $35,000 in
reward*.
The Crime Stopper organization in
Lamar County is made up of a board
of thirty interested and dedicated
citizens, has by-laws, is incorporated
and is recognized by the State of
Texas as a certified crime stopper
program. As such, they can apply for
and receive grants from the stake to
help pay the salary for the coordina-
tor and crime prevention officer. The
monies used by crime stoppers for
rewards, publicity, etc. does not
come from any governmental body.
All the reward money and other
expenses is donated by citizens,
groups, organizations and busi-
nesses throughout the Lamar County
area. Lamar County also has one
ma)or fund raiser during the year
that being the all Police Rodeo.
The crime stopper board, at the
recommendation of the crime stop-
per coordinator. approved the
amount up to $1000. for the person
or persons giving information lead-
ing to the arrest and indictment of a
felon. All this is done anonymously.
This is an excellent program and
one the Crime Watch Group has set
as a goal of theirs to get started in
Cooper and Delta County. However,
this will take a lot to time, money and
cooperation of law enforcement of
Delta County, citizens of Cooper and
Delta County and the news media.
Any money made for this type
program will all be put back into ou.
own city and county.
There are no rewards being offerd
as yet as there are no funds for such
at this time. There is, however, a
crime watch number for reporting
any crimes or suspicious actions you
might see. That number is 395-2446.
Officer Varner is to make a return
visit to the Crime Watch Group
sometime in July. Please make your
plan* to attend that meeting. The
exact date will announced later.

God spoke to his people ”
The collection started with Hamil-
ton creating pieces himself, using
specifications found in the test of the
Old Testament. He also searched
thrift shop* for items he could
incorporate into the display.
It took seven months for the
collection to grow large enough for
Hamilton to take on the road. Since,
