Mrs. Johanna Fitzgerald, aged 73
years, died on July 14 and tier fu-
neral was held from St. Juceph's
Church with Requiem Mass on the
following Saturday. Rev. B. J. Daen-
ey officiated at the funeral, and in-
terment was made in Calvary Ceme-
tery. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a native
of Ireland, 'but had lived in the
United States for the past fifty-five
years. Four daughters survive her.
Frank Rothner, a Katy engineer,
died at the railroad hospital nt Se-
dalia on July 4, and was buried from
St. Patrick's Church with High Mass
of Requiem the following Tuesday.
He leaves a wife and ten children,
a brother, Theodore Rothner, and
many friends who regret his death
In the prime of life.
The infant son of Mr. and Mrs.
James.Lindsey died on Wednesday,
July 6, after a brief Illness. Father
Deeiiey conducted the funeral and
burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
Gerald, the one year old son of
George Gumpert. Jr., died in Dallas
on July 21 and the funeral was held
at St. Patrick’s Church on the fol-
lowing Saturday. Gerald was a twin,
11 is brother surviving him. His
father, Mr. George Gumpert, Jr., Is
city ticket agent for the Katy in
uallas, but, was reared in Denison.
Altar Society,
A. most interesting-entertainment
is being planned by the Indies of the
Altar Society to take place at the
residence of Father Deeny on Aug-
ust 2, and the proceeds will be used
(or a fund for the orphans and the
poor. A .large attendance is ex-
pected, and the ladies assure us that
there will be an unusually attrac-
tive program.
Personal.
Rev. Father Deeney suffered a
week’s illness lost week, but bus re-
covered sufficiently to resume his
duties. In the absence of Father
McGrann from St. Joseph's i pdr’-1-
