KERRVILLE CORRESPONDENCE '
Hallowe'ehfSeial.
The young folks of St. Teary’s par-
ish anticipated the vigil of AH
Saints by holding their jollification
on Friday. First they enjoyed music
and indoor games in Washington
Hall of Notre Dame Institute. Then
they feasted on pumpkin cakes and
goblin punch. Thus refreshed, they
worked one another into nightmare
fright by recounting spooky stories
till the ghosts told them it was
twelve.
No classes were conducted at
either of our parish schools on All
Saints Day. A High Mass of Requiem
waa sung on All Souls Day in mem-
ory of the founder of Notre Dame
Institute. Mr. Wm. Kemper, and all
her other benefactors, including Rev.
J. G. Barrez, formerly of Kerrville,
who died during the year In Belgium.
Roosevelt Day.
In compliance with the wishes"of
the Governor, Notre Dame observed
the birthday anniversary of the im-
mortal "Teddy," despite the fact that
we were practically alone in our dis-
play of patriotism. All calumnies to
the contrary, our Catholic school has
always led In an example of patrio-
tism on every occasion of note.
i By happy coincidence. Jack Fl ye,
i who may some day occupy Roose-
i veit’s chair, had his own birthday

1 Miss Kemper's Return.
1 On the eve of election day Miss
1 Angeline Kemper returned to Kerr-
1 ville in order to exercise her full
] rights of citizenship. She had left
1 with it er mother and nephew, Walter
J Kalvelage, in the first week of July
ij and accompanied them to Chicago.
J From thia focal point she took many
a trips to nearby towns so as to pay a
a br:ef visit to all her kinsfolk. Thence
j the same trio journeyed via Canada
to Portland, Oregon, the home of
Mrs. Wm. Kemper, While in San
An ton lie, she went to St. Louis Col-
