Loom recently appropriated will help
only those making crops. Many who
work for wafes are aa needy. Can
you hire some one for a day and help
two; yourself and the unemployed?
There ia to he several hundred dol-
lars released in this trade territory by
the Red Cross, immediately, for pur-
chase of groceries etc. Where will
the people spend this money ? With
the proper cooperation between mer-
chants and buyers it would nearly all
be spent in the home town. There is
at present too much trade going else-
where, the money nwver to return.
One reason ia, there seems to be too
much difference between prices local
and certain other places. With over-
head expenses remaining practically
the same with little or more busines*
can not a cooperation be worked out
to increase the volume by lowering
profits, and then wc who must buy,
trade with local men, even at some
higher prices where the money can
help local people?
Take a case to illustrate. Many
people must have bakery products.
Grocery stores must serve them. By
right cooperation n local man can
"get by" if he has the patronage of
Vocal stones and homes. At present
there is one or two bakeries tryintf to
get the local trade enough to put the
local bakery out of business. At
present some merchants are encour-
aging out of town bread to their cu*>
tomers in preference to local bread
even in price favor. Then many
people, to save a nickel today, take
the cheaper. This practice has one
inevitable end. There is no reason to
believe w could get five cent bread
now if w« had no Vocal bakery.
The above mistake many are mak-
ing is analagous to many other* we
all make. They hurt us more way*
than one. Let all of us join aach
other to keep price and quality favor-
ing our communities, then all trade at
home. When shall people learn the

to u.c ir.r-rest of all in selling and
buying. This will make more money
available by us all, for the Red Cross,
which deserves our money, for our
Churches, schools, etc. and which is
more valuable; grow into each others
graces, thus making for better fellow-

most of us are professed Christians,
why not strive to practice more
Christian relationships?
