Discussion and re-evalua-
tion of water taxes for the
year 1975 was a vita) topic
before the Board of Director*
of the Franklin County Water
District in their regular
meeting Monday, July 7.
After lengthy discussion of
the matter with Ed Marrow,
tax assessor collector for the
Mt. Vernon Independent
School District, the board
passed a resolution which
maintains the rate of 25 cents
per $100 evaluation, also used
as the rate in 1974, to be used
as the 1975 rate for water
taxes.
Appointment of the Mt.
Vernon Independent School
District to make assessments
and collections for the water
district was also made
through the adoption of the
resolution.
Approval of outstanding
bills in the amount of $3,692 68
was approved by the board of
directors, and the payment of
$21,913 to the Texas Water
Development Board was also
approved. Payment to the
Texas Water Development
Board is made as partial
recovery of the state's
investment in the water
storage facilities and interest
in Lake Cypress Springs
A report on holiday activ-
ities at the lake was given by
lake superintendent, Horris
Morris. Morris also reported
construction of the dumping
stations at the lake are behind
schedule due to contractor
equipment problems.
In other action taken by the
board approval was given to
Glen Fowler for Phase II of
the Holiday Retreat lake
development Phase II of the
development will provide for
an additional 16 lots to the
existing 12 in Phase I of the
development.
In final action the approved
trip and registration fees to be
paid for Shirley Lykins to
attend a meeting in Austin
August 4
The meeting, sponsored by
the Texas Water Rights
Commission and Texas Soci-
ety of CPA’s, will cover the
