secretary, Mrs. J. J. Gibson;
corresponding secretary, Mrs.
John H. Davis; treasurer, Mrs.
Herbert Henry, reporter, Mrs.
Ernest Goodwin; librarian, Mrs
W. C. Briggs; Mrs. T. E. Long
as federation conselor and
Mrs. W. V. Bigham as critic
were unable to attend. At the
close of the installation Mrs.
Clifford Graves, who has been
on the State Board for the past
two years, gave a brief report,
touching on the highlights of
the state convention in Austin.
Mrs. Graves spoke mainly on
the “International Friendship
Garden” sponsored by the
Texas Federation of Womens
Clubs and located between the
United States and Mexico at
Brownsville, Texas on the banks
of the Rio Grande. The 1923
Study Club contributed 100%
to the Friendship Garden pro-
ject.

Mrs. Arvis Davis was hostess
to members of the 1923 Study
Club for their “Tasting Lunch-
eon” at 1 p. m. Thursday,
May 16. Mrs. Davis was assist-
ed by Mrs. W. C. Briggs with
hostess duties.
This marked the club ending
for the year. The following ap-
propriate quote was given:

President Ann Maxfield and
the other new officers of the
Delphian Study Club were in-
stalled Thursday night by Mrs.
V. H. Worley. The installation
service was held during a
regular club meeting in the
home of Mrs. Afton Willingham.
The following officers elected
and installed to serve during
the 1968-69 club year are: Mrs.
G. W. Maxfield, president; Mrs.
Travis Jones, vice-president;
Mrs. Fred Stinson, recording
secretary; Mrs. Billy Smith,
corresponding secretary; Mrs.
Warren Prater, Treasurer;
Mrs. George Woodley, parlia-
mentarian; Mrs. Floyd Ison,
critic; and Mrs. Wayion Piper,
reporter.
Mrs. V. H. Worley, who is
a member of the Sorosis club,
the Mother club of said Delphian
Study club, used a Daisy theme
for the Installation Service, us-
ing different colors and varie-
ties for each office.
Prior to the Installation, the
outgoing President Mrs. Doyle
Wayne Parnell presided. In the
business session the letter from
the Family Living Committee
and the 1964 Study club, which
outlined their plan for a safer,
cleaner, and more attractive
town, was read and discussed.
Since our club had sent an
earlier resolution to the City
Council stressing the need to
remove hazardous obstructions
at the intersections of the city
streets, it was decided that a
committee be appointed to look
further into this matter of co-
operating in some phases of
this improvement plan. Mrs.
Jimmie Sandlin and Mrs.
George Woodley were appointed
to serve on this committee.
The recipient of our annual
Scholarship Award was decided,
but the name of the Senior is
being withheld until Graduation
night, May 30th.

Vaughn R. Killian was hostess.
The 1968-69 slate includes

7 met for a regular meeting
May 14th with 17 present. Those

“Pink Ladies” was selected
as a name for the competitive
Drill Team. New formals for
the team have arrived and are
a deep pink.
Mildred Shavor was elected
as Outstanding Sister for the
year.
A Mother’s Day reading was
given by Jessie Lee Garrison.
A salad supper honoring
Temple Sweetheart Renae
Brinson will be at the Temple
Hall, May 28th. All members
are urged to come and bring
a salad and enjoy this fellow-
ship meeting.
The meeting was closed with
the officer’s retiring March.

home of Mrs. Roy Powell.
Present officers will serve

vice president; S. M. Jolly, re-
cording and corresponding
secretary; Miss Bernita Fish,
treasurer; Mmes. Bill Barrett,
critic; Loyd Mayes, parliamen-
tarian; Roy Powell, press re-
porter.

Prior to the installation, the
club accepted the resignation of
Mrs. Mehaffey as president -
elected and voted her honorary
membership. The charter mem
ber and her family are moving
to Cleburne. Mrs. Delwin
Brooks was nominated and
elected president. Another re-
signation accepted was that of
Mrs. Conrad Neitsch who has
moved away.
Members voted on the senior
to receive the worery
toreceive the worthy student
award. The recipient will be
announced at the high school
commencement exercises. The
club year was reviewed by Mrs
James Lee. Mrs. Turner re-
ported on attending a cotton
council meeting.
Program leader was Mrs.
Don Hutchinson. Letters of
appreciation received from
various individuals receiving
benefit from club projects for
the year were read by Mrs.
Brooks.

MISS SELINDA HAMILTON

Miss Selinda Hamilton and
other members of the cast of
“Good News” will jet from New
York City, July 8 for a month
in Europe. The “Good News”
is a folk musical presenting
the challenge of Christianity
for modern youth and made its
premiere during the summer
of 1967 at Blorietta Baptist
Assembly in New Mexico.
Miss Hamilton is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. John Hamilton
of Childress, former residents
of Paducah.
