Thomas Jefferson HAYS came to
Nacogdoches in 1840. Later 4 April
1847, one of his daughters Sarah G.
HAYS married Larkin Earl
CAMP, my husband’s 2ggfather.
Are there any family histories
that give the ancestry of this
family? Does anyone know some-
thing about these two families? I
would surely like to correspond
with ANYONE who knows some-
I am seeking help and will
exchange data on the BRIS-
BIN AND ELLIOTT families. Jo-
seph Pinkney BRISBIN, Sr., b. ca
1830 Scotland (?) said to have died
ca 1870 Washington County, Texas.
He married Mary Magdaline
WHETSTON, b. S.C., died 8 July
1869 Washington County, Texas.
Some of their children were later in
Alabama. I am working on •
HAMNER GENEALOGY and
would like to hive as accurate and
complete as possible. __
I am also working on my SHIR-
LEY FAMILY descendants there
in Texas. My great great grand-
father had a brother, Davie SHIR-
LEY, who moved with hie wife and
children to Brazos, Texas some
time after the Civil War. I have a
letter written by hie second wife in
which she names some of Ms
children. I would like to correspond
with this SHIRLEY line.

John R. MONK went to war with
the Confederate Army in 1861. The
only word the family heard from
him was by a fellow soldier who
said John MONK was badly wound-
ed or killed in action in a battle in
Tennessee. After not hearing from
John any more Eizabeth believed
she was a widow and remarried a
Mr. STRATER MADDOX. I have
heard that John R. MONK finally
came home and found his wife was
remarried and moved away to
Rapides Parish, Louisiana.
In the 1870 Census of Natch-
itoches', La. I found Elizabeth 4
Strater MADDOX, plus David 4
Vel MONK and a MADDOX son
listed. I would love to find out
where John R. MONK died and
where he was buried.
My time is running out and 1
need to find this information as
soon as possible. I will answer all
letters and refund all postage.
