THE CORPSE CAME COD

I o the <,)<:"pie in general .
{ would like to say a lew words
in regard to the gossip that - he
ing Si|>rr3id about Brown.
I think, a few petty hoot leggei -
are. starting this talk about his ser
vice record.
I wrote oi*e ol his ofiiccrs and
below what he said:

Dear Sir
You letter was most vvt-i •

dead rijjfit giving your whole heart-
ed support to Arthur Brown to
succeed you as Sheriff, Front wIi.k

I certainly can not think of an\

Just ?,his^week-end a couple of

I'-w 'uaerices, must be dead set
t' L;e< into oltic.e. Arthur p: >bab!\
would not pay any attention to such
things because he would never
think oj :.he:n himself, but. unfor-
tunately. otluus arc not such fine
men as he. If there is anything we
can do to reiiite such rumors,
please let us know.
I a :a. t. just tiiiuking about it
i,vt< me >,):r!t\ Ivt ! We were not

pretty proud of our outfit and the
fellows is it. \\ e landed ill Noini-

cipated in the lighting there, the
Bulge, and our tanks supported
the 10th Infantry Division, and
the initial infant! y rossiiig 01 the

question about any of this I am
sure the War Department would
be glad to furnish proof.
So much lor Arthur's war rcc-

three years and as a man, I ccr_
tainh ea'i not t.hink of any one
wlio is a better citizen. He was
tolerant, conscientious, broad min-
ded, and a real gentleman and a
good citizen. 1 like him (particular-
ly because he was so interested in
e. tv one and every thing around
him. In fact, some times almost
to a fault. Such a man would ob-
viously make a good public offic-
ial. Both the others Colonel An-
derson and Sergeant '1 'rostle, ag-
ree with me on all this I am sure
that any of the other fellows in the
outfit would do the same. There
were a lot of you red-blooded IV\_
ans in our outfit it you want to
get rtvre collaboration.
Well, best luck to yim and Ar-
thur in your jx>litical careers. For
!U's(di, I a. i< siitv that* Arthur is
going to i;et the office and J am
certainly glarl to see a man \v4#) is
such a credit to his outfit, his
'outltry md to Texas. In fact, I
think 1 will move down there as
this is the type ol juib'lic official to
have running for office.
Very truly yours,
