OFFER GOOD FRIDAY. SATURDAY AND MONDAY
The name in the pews this
week is Floyd A. Walton Jr.,
a general foreman in electric-
al maintenance at Lone Star
Steel Company. The reason
for his selection is Lapidary
Arts.
For those unfamiliar with
the term, it is the craft of cut-
ting, polishing and engraving
precious stones. Walton hasn't
worked on too many very
precious stones, but has prac-
ticed with his hobby on petri-
fied wood (quite a bit in the
East Texas area) agate from
West Texas and Mexico, quartz
from Arkansas and whatever
he can get his hands on from
other “rock hounds.’’
"I’ve been at it for about
six years now, but have really
been interested longer than
that. I bought my first cutter
from a geologist at the plant
and since have been adding
to my equipment,” Floyd says.
