I, Charles Mitchell, am
running for re-election to
the office of District Judge
for the 273rd Judicial Dis-
trict, which is comprised
of Shelby, Sabine and San
Augustine Counties.
I was born in Center, to
L.B. (Rudy) Mitchell and
Laurette Ramsey Mitch-
ell, and have lived all my
life in San Augustine.
My wife, Barbara and
I have been married for
over 33 years and our
daughter, Janie, is an ar-
chitect in Nacogdoches.
I feel that I am the best
qualified candidate to be
your District Judge.
My record of over 30
years of public service be-
gan as Assistant District
Attorney for the 1st Judi-
cial District of Sabine, San
Augustine, and Newton
Counties from 1984-1988,
acting County Attorney
in Sabine and San Augus-
tine Counties from 1989
through 2000, and 273rd
District Judge from 2001
through 2014.
Over the last 14 years,
I have worked hard to be
fair and impartial, to fol-
low the law and to uphold
I am called upon to make

• Physical renovation of current animal housing
facilities including “Pat Tucker” in the name meeting
State of Texas regulatory standards;
• Physical construction of a new facility including
“Pat Tucker” in the name meeting State of Texas regu-
latory standards;
• Offset expenses to reduce fees of a spay/neuter
program;
• Offset expense to reduce fees of an animal adop-
tion program;
• Offset of expenses to reduce fees for the relin-
quishment of unwanted or found animals.
Speaking for PAWS at Monday’s city council meet-
ing were Leslie Johnson and John Anson with other
members in attendance.
According to City Manager Chad Nehring, the city
currently has no plans in place for an animal welfare
facility.
Monday’s action was taken at the council’s regular
meeting at the Center City Hall at 5:00 p.m. with Mayor
Pro Tem Charles Rushing presiding. The Center City
Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at
5 p.m.
