Texas Tech at Lubbock last Fri-
day. His parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Charlie Letz and his wife's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Pierce
at'ended the commencement ex-
exercises. Thomas and his wife,
Donna Jean have moved to Abi-
lene where he is employed by
West Texas Utility Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Dean Boles
«nd children of Cooper were here
last weekend visiting his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Boles.
Nancy Vahlenkamp, a student
at Navarro Junior College, was
here last weekend visiting her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert
Vahlenkamp. She was organist at
the wedding of Janis McMeans
and Alden A. Lowaek at St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Sagerton last
Saturday.
Mrs. Helen Ruth Cox was

Marcos last Friday. Her parents,

Mrs. Truman (Sue) Sherrod re-
ceived her Bachelor of Science
Degree at Hardin-Simmons Mon-
day. She is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. M. C. Myers.
DAUGHTER BORN
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Burfiend of
Fort Worth, are the proud parents
of a baby daughter, born May 20.
She weighed seven pounds and
llMi ounces and was named Ter-
esa Dianne. The paternal grand-
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Burfiend Sr., Star Rou'e, Asper-
mont. Great grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Burfiend of
Aspermont.
Mrs. R. W. Ferrell. and daugh-
ters Sandra and Maryland of Hous-
ton have been visiting her moth-
er, Mrs. L. S. Jasper for a few
days. Mrs. Jasper has been visit-
ing there and returned home with
them.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stewart
left Saturday morning for Braw-
ley, California for a two weeks
visit there.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCoy of
Stephenville visi'ed over the
week end with her brother and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Hoss Driver

MULLIGAN STEW
Beef soup bone with at least
2 pounds of meat on it
2 cups diced celery
2 cups diced carrots and
finely chopped onion,
combined
1 cup diced turnips
2 cups diced potatoes
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup cooked green beans
1 cup cooked p*JS
Cut meat off bone. Place bone in
kettle and cover with cold water.
Add salt and pepper to taste, cel-
ery, combined carrots and onion.
Bring slowly to a boil. Cut meat
into 1-inch pieces. Dredge in
flour. Brown in. heavy skillet in
a little hot fat SeaKKfWiA'aalt
and pepper. Add browned meat
I lo hot broth in kettle. Simmer 2
hours. Remove bone. Add tur-
nips, potatoes, carrots.
Cook 30 minutes longer. A fe.v
minutes before serving add er
beans and peas; heat through. S
servings.

IRISH SODA BREAD
1 cup Bisquick
V* cup raisins
1 teaspoon caraway seed
V* cup plus 2 tablespoons
milk
Heat oven to 450'. Grease a 4- ]
inch skillet or deep baking dish.
Mix all ingredients. Pat into pre-'
pared pan. Bake about 12 min-
utes. Cut inty wedgtef. Serve hot'
with butterv4 to servings.
