Given in marriage by her
mother and father, the bride
chose a traditional gown of Chan-
tilly lace, featuring a sweetheart
neckline. Chantilly doleman
sleeves and a beaded fitted
bodice. The full skirt and semi
cathedral train were adorned in
Chantilly lace and terminated in
a rachele lace border
A camelot cap of beaded Alen-
con lace caught the bride's
fingertip length veil of silk illu-
sion She carried a bouquet of
white roses and pink baby's
breath, accented with pastel lac-
ed ribbon The bride wore dia-
mond earrings and a pearl
necklace.

the bride, attended as matron of
honor Bridesmaids were Rae
Cohen, Amy Alkek. and Annis

ruffled, fan-shaped sweep trains.
They wore a comb in their hair
with white silk daisies and pastel

Glassgow of Stephenville, and co-
sponsored by Senator Cyndi Krier ot
San Antonio.
There were over titty witnesses,
pro and con. and the meeting lasted
late into the night. No action was
taken by the committee and the bill
was left as pending business The
Bill will probably be sent to a sub
committee
Everett Anschritz of the State
Legislative Committee and a
member of the Austin Task Force
testified in behalf of AARP John
McFarland, a member ol RTA and
S.L.C testified in behalf of the
Retired Teachers Association We
need to keep asking our Legislators
to vote against this bill However, we
need to keep working to keep our
Texas Homestead Act intact That
is why you need to join the already
over one-million and seven hundred
thousand folk in Texas who belong to
AARP
The Annual Area VII Seminar,
w Inch was held at the Senior Citizens
Center, in Victoria, on March 19.

the area Seven memtiers from the
Calhoun County area were in atten-
dance.
Informative lectures were given
during the morning session by Mrs
Enid Littlefield, Assistant State
Director, and Mr Meyers of San An-
tonio, area president After a ques-
tions and answers session the
meeting was adjourned for lunch
After lunch the different officers
were assembled in their respective
catagories. This was a very good
learning experience for everyone,
especially those officers who are
new in the program of AARP

president. Mary Jane Weber,
secretary; CD George, legislative
chairman, Catherine Maeker,
membership chairperson; Billie

The AARP State Legislative Com-
mittee (SLC) decides and promotes
the legislative objectives to be
sought by the Association in each
state legislative session Composed
of volunteers from across the state,
the committee works on behalf of not
only AARP members, but all older
persons and the state community

of our Texas membership for 1987
are (1) Health Care Cost Contain-
ment, (2) Visible Alternatives to In-
stitutionalization of the Elderly. (3)
Improved Operation of Nursing
Homes, (4) Preservation of Texas
Homestead Act Protections, < 5) Ef-
fective Regulation ol Residential
I tility Rates. <6> Water issues (7)
Improved programs to Certain
Abuse of the Elderly.
For these reasons all AARP
members, as well as all of the elder
ly persons should be alert and on the
lookout to help any ot these
measures as they come before the
State Legislature Don't forget that
the votes of AARP members which
consist of over one-million seven
hundred thousand in Texas counts
