has been all bad
Water temperatures in
the larger reservoirs are
the coWest they have ever
been and the bass fishing
has been about the slowest
ever too. .
However, anglers may
be making a mistake usitfg
the larger lakes as a
barometer to measure the i
quality of fishing in East
Texas.
Some good strings of
bass are now being caught
in East Texas, but they are
being caught on the smaller
reservoirs rather than the
larger ones, according to
Texas Parks & Wildlife
.Department fisheries bio
logist, Charles Inman in
It only makes sense
that the little lakes should
be producing.
The smaller, and often
shallower, lakes respond
much quicker to a couple of J
days of warm weather and
sunshine than the larger
and deeper reservoirs.'
January and February
are generally the months .
when bass, especially large
bass, travel more than ahy
other month of the year
according to survey dsta
collected by the depart-
ment. ’
Its a combination of
water temperature and the
longer periods of daylight
which compels the baai .lo
* mbve near ridges, humps
[ and fiats where they will *
eventually gpawn." Inman
On the smaller lakes, a
shght warming trend h
enough to put the bass on
^e move, creating a flurry
eZbetter fishing for anglers.
