Mrs. W. G. Wienke
Marks Birthday
At Home Monday
Monday marked the 93rd
birthday of Mrs. W. G. Wienke
of Old Glory. She spent the day
quietly in her home enjoying the
company of friends and
relatives who called.
Born Lottie Klump, Aug. 9.
1878, near New Ulm in Austin
Co., Texas, she was the
daughter of the late Mr and
Mrs. William Klump, oldest of
six children. She married W. G.
Wienke Apr. 25, 1898.
Mrs. Wienke still lives in her
big two-story house in Old
Glory, but spends several
months each year visiting with
her children. She enjoys the
flowers in her yard, and on a
summer morning one can
usually find her outside looking
them over.
Aside from the arthritis in her
leg, she is still quite active for
her age. One of the highlights
for her ihis year was aiienuiim
the annual Klump Family
Reunion held at Round Top in
June and dancing a couple of
rounds.
But there have also been
sorrows in her life time Only
last week as members of her
family were preparing to come
visit her on her birthday, they
were notified that her youngest
brother, Ben Klunip, had
passed away. Mr. Wienke died
in 1965. Last year, she lost a son,
Leslie Wienke of Lubbock, a
daughter, Linda, died as a small
child.
Her other four children and
their spouses were all here for
her birthday. They are Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Doty of Garden City,
Kans., Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Pope
of Hempstead, Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Wienke of Lubbock, and
Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Spitzer.
A sister, Mrs. Tillie Dippel,
and a number of other friends
and relatives visited her also.
