Detroit on Tuesday night, Nov.
21 in the first game for the Mt.
Vernon team
Detroit led throughout the
game scoring 10 points in the
first quarter, 15 tn the second,
10 in the third and eight in the
fourth Mt Vernon came back
strong in the second half but
were unable to overtake
Detroit Mt. Vernon scored four
points in the first quarter, seven
in the second, 12 in the third and
14 in the fourth
Terry Evans led the Tiger
scoring with four field goals for
eight points Jim Solomon. Troy
Palmer and Mark Byrd scored
three field goals each for six

man defense and later went into
a lull court press which halted
the Tigers scoring chances.

Resigns As Water
District Manager
Marion Russell, manager for
the Franklin County Water
District for the past 15 months,
submitted his resignation from
the post on Wednesday, Nov 22,
effective on Dec. 8
Russell said he will begin
work on Dec 13 in the appraisal
department of Henry S. Miller
Co., the largest real estate firm
in Dallas. He said he will also
begin work immediately to
obtain his designation from
Masters Appraisers Institute.
The Russell family plans to
move to Dallas previous to
December 13.

Sergeant Bill Cody, Sulphur
Springs, and other patrolmen
from there worked at the scene
on Wednesday night. Hopkins
County Sheriff Paul Ray Jones
and Deputy John E. Tittle, Jr.,
worked at the scene Wednesday
night and returned Thursday.
The bodies were taken to Sam
B. Harvey Funeral Home in Mt
Vernon where they were
examined by Dr. Robert F.
White for the Federal Aeronau-
tics Administration. Investiga
tors for the FAA were on hand
Thursday morning to discuss
the crash with Dr. White and
witnesses to the crash
It was first thought that the
plane had struck an electric
transmission line belonging to
Southwestern Electric Power
Co. just west of the site but
investigation ruled this out.
Franklin County Sheriff Bob-
by Biggerstaff stated after
completing his investigation
there was no evidence of foul
play and his offices considers
the crash an accident. Sanders
and his wife were reportedly
estranged
A spokesman from Sulphur
Springs Municipal Airport
reported that Sanders took off
from the airport with a female
companion between 8:30 and
9:00 p m Wednesday. They also
reported his car remained at
the airport after the crash
investigation began.
Mrs. Sanders purse, aircraft
papers and a seat from the
plane were found floating on the
lake surface Wednesday night
but officers did not release the
names of the victims until their
bodies had been recovered
C. J Harper, golf pro at the
country club, said he had talked
with Sanders on the parking lot
at the club at about 3:30 p.m
Wednesday when he came by to
show an eight point buck he had
shot earlier that day
Sanders had a mobile home in
the King’s Country develop
ment on Lake Cypress Springs
Both bodies were transferred
to Sulphur Springs funeral
homes after they had been
examined by Dr. White
Funeral services for Mrs
Sanders. 48. were held at 2:00
p.m Saturday at the Murray
Orwosky Funeral Home in
Sulphur Springs with interment
in the Bennett Cemetery near
Dike She was an employee of
Rockwell Manufacturing Com-
pany
Services for Mr. Sanders, 38,
were held at 4:00 p.m Saturday
at Tapp Funeral Home, Sulphur
Springs, with interment in
Restlawn Memorial Park He
was an employee at the Sulphur
-Springs Post Office.
