opened the meeting leading
the ritual, salute to the flag
and the National Anthem. To
the melody of the "Battle
Hymn of the Republic" the
group sang, "Our Own United
States,” reading the words
from a large poster board
Mrs. Gerald Hampton was at
the piano.
Mrs. B D. McAfee was in
charge of the program. Mrs.
Joe Embrey read excerpts
from an article, "The Consti-
tution and the Flag.” Mrs.
Hensley emphasized the im-
portance of observing Amer-
ican Constitution Week
The Dean Lide ancesteral
home, 422 E. Third Street,
Mt. Pleasant, will be dedicat-
ed as an historical home on
Sept. 26 The program will
begin at 4:00 p.m. and Tray-
lor Russell will be the guest
speaker.
The Texas Daughters of the
American Revolution have
purchased the Freeman plan-
tation mansion, Jefferson, for
the new DAR State House. It
has been featured during the
Pilgrimage held each spring.
Mrs. B. D. McAfee spoke
on the Privileges of and Res-
ponsibilities of the American
Constitution.
A work shop and luncheon
will be held Oct. 27 at the
Holiday Inn, Mt. Pleasant.

Miss McGill was presented
with a white carnation cor-
sage and a beautiful Corning

the hostesses.

gladioli with white and laven-
der streamers centered the
refreshment table which was

shower Aug. 25 in the fellow-
ship hall of the Greenwood I
Baptist Church.

rangement of orchid flowers
centered the table. Grape
punch. white cake squares,
nuts, mints and coffee were
served to the guests
