Two local young men have
joined the Unjted States Mar-
ine Corp* and Win leave for
active duty. May 8. They are
Jerry Lee McClenan, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenan,
Route 2, Mt. Vetnon, and Jam-
es (Jim) William McKee, son
of Mr. and Mrs Curtte McKee,
Box 279, Mt. Vernon.
After nine weeks "Boot
Camp” at San Diego, Calif.,
both will be transferred to
Camp Pendleton, Calif, for a
month of advance training
and then a 20 day leave, prior
to reporting to a special school
or to the Fleet Marine Force
for duty.
These two young men are
on the Buddy Program that al-
lows them to take basic train-
ing together.

Services Held
Ido Hatchell, 70, of Route 2,
Saltillo, died at 3 p.m Wed-
nesday, April 1, in the Frank-
lin County Hospital.
Mr. Hatchell was born Jan.
12, 1900 in Hopkins County,
the son of Willis and
Lowry Hatchell.
Survivors include four bro-
thers, Ernest Hatchell of Sul-
phur Springs, R. C. and Guy
Hatchell of Saltillo and Bird
Hatchell of Denver City; and
one sister, Mrs. Mae Redding
of Canyon.
Funeral services were held
at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4.
in the Saltillo Baptist Church
with the Rev. Willy Peterson
and the Rev. A. L. Dennis
officiating.
Burial was in the
Creek Cemetery

held at 2 p.m. Tueaday, March
31, at the First Baptist Church
of Winnsboro with Rev. Dan
Hubbell, Rev. J. C. Pollard of-
ficiating. Burial was at Hope-
well Cemetery.
Mrs. Faulk died Sunday,
March 29, at Mother Frances
Hospital in Tyler whe^e she
had been a patient one (day.
A native of Franklin County,
she was bom Nov. 14, 1911 to
William Marion Sparks and
the former Amanda Maud
Castle. On Aug. 1, 1931 she
married O. L. Faulk who sur-
vives. She had made her home
at 701 South Walnut Street in
Winnsboro for the past 17
years. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church and
the Order of Eastern Star. She
was past worthy matron of the
Eastern Star.
Survivors other than htr
husband, include two children,
Mrs. Tressie Allen, Corsicana,
and Randall Faulk, Colorado
