on Saturday, Aug. 2.

at Ogden.
Knowles, who taught in Vivian
in Foard County and later be-
came the second Cottle County
Judge, brought his family from
Hunt County in 1890 and home-
steaded on the last tract of un-
appropriated land. On the wagon
train with them were the
William Morris family and a
family by the name of Abshear.
Already there were the Red
Wilson and the H. P. Cook
families.
It was Cook the group
met when the train stopped in during the weekend with

came to Ogden in 1902 from
Callahan County, was rec-
ognized as being the oldest
person present. Attending were

Ogden once consisted of two
stores, post office, gin and
school, but disintegrated when
the school wajs closed and the
children transferred to Paducah
in 1936. The post office was
moved to Swearingen in 1916.
Now those living at Ogden
receive their mail on Route
Three.
Ogden came into being in
1907. According to Mrs. C. S.
Gilliland, “Alfred Ogden came who operated the first post from
here from Brookline, Mass, and his half-dugout home.
Jimmy Anderson ran a store
and later bought it and Warren
Smith’s father had a store at |
one time, Mrs. Gilliland said.
