The delayed opening has
cost the County up to one
million dollars.
Legal ads feature divorce
at $75 and DWI’s at 8150.
The ad didn’t point out
that you could get two
divorces for the price of one
DWI.
I suppose that is about
right, some people must
believe that a divorce is not
nearly as important as one
drunk.

Randy Kaisner was the
featured speaker at the
regular meeting of the
Denton County Taxpayers
Association meeting
Tuesday night. There sure
were a lot of people in
attendance. The
association is active and
healthy, and may come to
be a real political force in
Denton County politics.
Kaisner had a lot to say
about the local media and
local coverage of news
events.

"What are they doing
sending in an extra bill,”
Jacobs questioned.
Wells said he thought the
coffee was for jail
employees. Jacobs said the
food budget Is for the jail
and not for county
employees.
The bill was held up.
Jail Planners, Inc., had a
small bill which prompted
Jacobs again to ask, “I
don’t recall our asking Jail
Planners to provide any
services."
Ruth
Commissioner
One, said Jail
didn't even come up for the 1
Jail inspection, and she
asked what was the service.
The auditor said it was for
lodging and telephone bills.
The court held this bill
up.
It was Tansey’s time to
get riled up over a bill when
she asked why one medical
doctor had so many
invoices for prisoner care.
Auditor Wells explained
the doctor doesn’t bill often
and these bills are
accumulative and were
mostly for x-rays. Wells
explained this doctor is
reasonable in his charges,
and a lot faster than Flow
Hospital. Wells said that if
the problem is an
emergency, the sheriff
sends the prisoner to the
hospital.
“I am told it takes hours
to get an x-ray at flow,
however, when prisoners
are taken to the doctors
office, they are processed
promptly and back to the
jail,” the auditor said.
Tansey said prisoners
should go to the county
hospital and she asked the
purchasing agent to look -
into this, also to check on a
number of pharmacy bills f
with the possibility of [
bidding out
contract.

Bills get more
questions by County
Commissioners Court
With a long agenda facing
it and many people waiting
to hear a decision on Flow
Hospital, the Denton
County Commissioners
took time out to review a
long bills payable list.
The first bill to get the
courts attention was for a
“love seat.” The auditor
wasn’t sure what office the
love seat was for, but said it
may have been for a judges
chamber as such rooms
often have sofas, easy
chairs, etc.
Sandy Jacob's eye caught
an item of 8520 for coffee
and wanted to know who
needed so much. County
Auditor Wells said it was
for the jail and Jacobs said
the jail food contract “per
meal’’ included coffee.
Second homes! Yes, if the
boat or mobile home are
suitable for overnight use
and has toilet facilities!
It this interpretation
holds it will be better to
invest in such boats and
mobile homes than IRA
accounts.
There is something
wrong with people who
write tax codes with such
silly provisions.

Conrail, the money losing
railroad. Their interest in
the stock is expected to
bring in 828 per share, for a
total of 81.65 billion.
The government lost
money running Conrail,
therefore, it may be
especially interesting to see
how private enterprise
fares. I think 1 would be
more willing to buy
Government surplus
Arizona desert land or
Florida swampland rather
than a money eating
railroad.
