The Sanger girls’ track
team grabbed six first place
finishes despite rainy and
wet conditions at the
Leonard Tiger Relays last
Saturday. The Sanger girls’
won its division with 144
points.
Sanger sprinter Shelly
Johnson took first place in
the 100- and 200- meter
relays; Christy Chronister
set a meet record in the
high jump; Jaime Jenkins
won the long Jump; Tonya
Parker won the discus; and
Sanger’s 800-meter relay
team of Michele Forrest,
Barbara Mason, Elizabeth
Trietsch and Jaime Jenkins
won its event.
Tonya Parker threw the
discus 83 feet, 2 inches.
Elizabeth Trietsch finished
second in the shot put with
a 30-10 throw, and Parker
finished third with a 30-2
throw. Christy Chronister’s
meet record of 5-4 gave her
a first in the high jump, and
Jaime Jenkins came in
third with a 5-2 jump.
In the 1,600 meter run,
Melody Amyx of Sanger
finished third with a time of
7:07.79. The 1,600 meter
relay team of Trietsch,
Becky White, Shannon
Hallmark, and Tammy Hall
finished fourth with a time
of 4:54.86.
In the 800 meter run,
Tammy Hall finished third
with a time of 2:46.67, and
Becky White finished
fourth with a time of
2:49.0.
The 800-meter relay team
had a first place finish time
of 1:56.51. The 400-meter
relay team of Forrest,
Mason, Jenkins, and Shelly
Johnson took third place
with a 53.14 time.
Shelly Johnson’s time in
the 200-meter dasy was
27.88, and in the 100-
meter dash was 13.05,
giving her first place in
both events.
