Coach Vernon Hill had the
following comments to make
Monday evening relative to the
basketball activities;
“We are having a Junior High
ball game tonight with Muen-
ster--the opening of our Junior
High season. We haven’t played
before, so we don’t know just
what we are going to look like,
but we are hoping we can at
least show some fundamentals
of basketball.
“The High School is going to
play Collinsville tomorrow
night, and then next Monday, on
the'27th, we will be playing in
the Sanger tournament and will
play Saint Jo in the first round

Members of the Home De-
monstration Club met on Wed-
nesday afternoon of last week
for a delightful program and
fellowship in the lovely home of
Mrs. Chester Calhoun which
was even more lovely with its
Christmas decor.
Mrs. Addie Martin told the
charming story of “The Little
Mixer” by Lillian Shearon.The
story was of Hannah, a 7-year-
old Jewish girl who is aided
and abeted by her two play-
mates, Nellie, a Catholic, and
Virginia, a Christian Science,
_...ll all of her dreams of
Christmas come true. Through
many childish schemes the
three little girls go about the
business of helping Hannah’s
Christmas presents come down
the ‘ chimbley’ rather than
through the door. Hannah's fat-
her is a great help to her in
trying to explain to her mother
the superiority of the Gentile
Christmas over Hanukkah; also,
the fight between the old gene-
ration and the new generation,
and his opinion that Hannah
should be allowed to make up
her own mind about the Christ-
mas myth and allow her to think
things out lor herself without
their influence.

C. B. Dickeson was a dinner
guest of his daughter, Mrs. Lois
Nell Nixon and family of Hurst
Sunday.
Following the story, mem-

from the beautiful Christmas
tree in a very unique manner.
Poems were written for each
member telling them where they
would find their gifts and also
naming a talent which they
should perform before they
could claim the gift.
Refreshments of finger sand-
wiches,party puffs in red,green
and yellow, spiced tea, and
candy which had been moulded
in the shape of strawberries
and used as a center piece on
the table were served to the
following members; Mmes.
Edna Highfill, Betty Roane,
Beulah Gregory, Nelda Huds-
peth, Mildred Seyler, Minnie
Martin, Addie Martin, Velma
Hudspeth and the hostess. Mrs.
Pat Couch, sister of Mrs. Cal-
houn, was a guest. ;;

DUGGER
Funeral services for LbysR.
Dugger, 55, were held at Plea-
sant Ridge, near M^ola, at
2-30 p.m. Saturday, with inter-
ment in Pleasant Ridge Ceme-
tery. Services were held in the
Methodist Church, of which
Dugger was a formej member.
Officiating mini^tefs were Mr.
Delbois Osborne, Church of
Christ Minister and long-time
family friend, assisted by Rev.
Albert Clark, who performed
the wedding ceremony of Mr.
and Mrs. Dugger, the former
Miss Edith Lorraine Ragsdale,
in Alba on Dec. 26, 1939.
Dugger, who suffered a
severe heart attack on Septem-

has not been in good health
since. However, a doctor s

well and improving. He suffered untii

have noticed in the newspaper
that they have won quite a few
games this season, so we are
real happy that we are meeting
them in the tournament so that
we cap get a look at them be-
fore the season begins.
'' We received a call from the
Denton State School last
Thursday afternoon saying tney
were not going to be able to
play F riday night and would have
to call the game off. We felt like
we needed to play, but we
couldn’t find anyone to play. Of
course, qi in the middle of the
season, almost everyone has a
full schedule, and consequently,
when a game is cancelled for
any reason, you just, can’t find
anyone to play because every-
one is busy. We really hated
not getting to play Friday be-
real badly.
“We think Danny Alexander
will get to play in the Sanger
