Friendship
Club Has
Meeting
The Friendship Club held
their annual Christmas
meeting Dec. 20 in the
Fellowship Hall of First
Baptist Church.
Larry and Jan Newberry
sang several Christmas
songs and then led the group
in singing other Christmas
carols.
A turkey dinner was
shared by 45 attending the
meeting. The birthday song
was sung to those having a
birthday during the month
of December. They were
Rene Kerby, Gatha Boyd-
ston and Ned Wylie.
While everyone was busy
visiting and playing 42,
Santa Claus appeared and
each person was given a
small gift.
Retired persons wishing
to share the fun are invited
to attend meetings of the
Friendship Club. Meetings
are held the third Friday of
each month in the Fellow
ship Hall of First Baptist
Church.
PICKUP OVERTURNS ON RAIN SLICKED HIGHWAY- This pickup truck, bearing Iowa '
license plates and pulling a house trailer, overturned on rain slick Highway 1-35 Tuesday
morning north of the Sanger city limits. The truck, owned by Mr. and Mrs. John Swank and
driven by Mrs. Swank was heavily damaged when it went out of control, left the road, turned
around and hit a highway sign. The trailer remained upright. No one was seriously injured but
Mrs. Swank suffered some bruises and upset nerves. The Swanks were enroute from the
Valley to their home in V ewton. Iowa

larized. This was the second
attempt at burglary of the
oil company. It was

Debra Jo Cole, 18,
Denton is featured in

Debra, the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Charlie Cole, Jr.,

graduate of Denton High
School where she belonged
to the National Honor

dist Church was burglarized
Christmas Eve. Only about
$3 was taken and no vanda
lism was reported.

Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Meine
spent Christmas visiting
their three sons. David,
James and Mike Meine and
their families in Houston.
They stopped by Hillsboro
to visit their daughter and
son-in law, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Sadler. They have
both been very ill.

tools, along with some
money and checks. Burglars
apparently knocked the
money box off the car wash,
but couldn’t get it open and
threw it away. It was found
about two blocks away.
