The Burleson Elks base-
ball fortunes took a turn for
the better last week as they
won their first two district
games behind the pitching
efforts of Ed Grimes and Bob
Sherrill.
Grimes allowed the Bull-
dogs but three hits as the
Elks squeezed past Everman
Friday 4-3. Sherrill pitched a
one hit bailgame Tuesday as
Burleson trampled the
Tigers 13-0 in Mansfield.
Besides allowing but three
hits, Grimes struck out five
Bulldog batters and allowed
but three to take a free walk
to first base.
The Elk junior found him-
self behind early in the game
as the Bulldogs took a quick
three run lead. He allowed
two back to back hits and
walked the next batter.
Then as he made a motion to
pitch the umpire called him
for a balk and the runners
advanced. Too make a bad
situation worse, he was
called for another balk on a
move to throw out a runner
on second. He allowed one _________
more hit in that third inning RBI’s and Joe Balentine and
uprising and then proceeded Kirk Taylor had one apiece.
The Elks will be looking
for thier third straight win

DISTRICT JUDGE
POLITICAL AD PAI D FOR BY ROBERT M. MAHANAY
As I have talked with you, the voters of Johnson and Somervell Counties, it has become
increasingly apparent that you wish to change to a new District Judge this Spring. I offer myself
as the best qualified candidate for that vital position.
Bob Mahanay has the maturity, the experience as prosecutor and defense attorney, the
integrity, and the Judicial temperament to be your next District Judge.
Your vote for Bob Mahanay will be a vote in favor of a District Court operated with dignity and
complete fairness — a Court where you can come with absolute confidence that your case will
be tried promptly and according to law.
