Mr. A. G. Buescher, president
of the Chamber of Commerce,
informs a representative of the
Times that the new program of
the resuscitated Chamber of Com-
merce. as outlined in the Times
last week, is now an assured ac-
complishment. In fact Mr. Buesch-
er says the merchants and busi-
ness interests of the city respond-
ed to the S.O.S call of the com-
mittee, appointed at the re-organi-
zation meeting to solicit members
and financial support, in a very
gracious and commendable man- *
ner. The soliciting committee, of
course, was able to show that the
overhead expenses of the new
program wolud be cut to the min-
imum and that the funds asked
for would be used to supplement
Federal funds appropriated under
the Smith-Hughes Act to pay the
salary of a Vocational Agriculture
Teacher for the Smithville school.
The school board has already
signed a contract with the com-
mission administering the Smith-
Hughes Act and the federal mon-
ey has been made available to our
school for this purpose.
