The patterns of everyday
living ad a dimension to life
that surrounds us all. There
are patterns in lights and
shadows, the aged wood,
trees, flowers and all of them
are free to enjoy.
Many people capture the
beauty of textures in ar-
rangements of flowers or
ceramics capturing the unique
bits of nature with something

to use as a center piece.
Others capture the spartan
beauty with paints and a the patterns of living. Each is
brush. Then there are those
who use a camera to recall the
_ stark beauty of patterns.
Each season offers
something different to. the
beauty of patterns, be it a
stark winter’s day or a sultry
summer afternoon. The

ice on a pond, flowers pushing

decidedly different. Each has
a special beauty all .its own.
Each adds luxury to simple
things of life.
Of course the man-made
items that surround us all
have patterns and textures all
their own. The design of
homes, the stark beauty of
business offices, the patterns
of the city in streets, lights,
signs or landscaping. All are
patterns to make* our lives
more beautiful.
Being able to enjoy all this
beauty is one of the things that
makes living more enjoyable.
When they talk about the best
things in life are free being
able to see all the beauty is one
of them. And beauty is often in

by the patterns of living yet
often do not see them.
The patterns of young pub-
pies seeking their mother. The
instinctive movement of birds
across a fall sky as they seek
shelter from the winter’s
storms.
All this is free to those who
but take a moment to look
around them and enjoy the
display.

the eyes of the beholder.
Patterns don't remain on
earth. There are the patterns
of clouds, the dramatic
displays of sunrise or sunset.
Colors that make the eye ache
with the fleeting beauty of the
world that surrounds us.
The intricate patterns of
flowers with each distinctive
yet different according to
what nature dictates. A rose is
a rose, yet perfect in shape
and conformity. 4
The wonder of growing
things becomes ordinary as
we grow older. As children we
could be involved for hours in
studying the clouds overhead,
a night sky full of stars, the
shape of flowers or cactus. As
we mature the wonder of
nature takes a slow second
place to the crush of modem

NATURAL WOODS - The beauty of trees standing in a shady
glen, the patterns of dried limbs fallen by wind or the rough
woodman's cut which fashioned timbers for a log cabin are only a
few of the patterns of nature that are pleasing to the eye. Grains
and whorls lend themselves to the shading of natural timbers.
